I don't know about you but I have absolutely no interest for people without avatar. Can't you guys put a picture of you from the back, your body only or even a picture of your favorite sex toy? Anything is better than nothing at all.

And since I'm not here to hook up, shouldn't the bar be lower for me, since I'm more likely to get hit my a comet than inspire any interest in you anyway?

I don't see the point in an avatar that isn't me, and I can't put one up for other reasons.

I have no qualms about sending one in a message however.

I don't mind if others do or do not have a picture. They are nice, but I can perfectly understand why some don't want to have one.

I can't really agree, but mostly due to a good experience. I much prefer a picture (at least nothing naked or, no, not of a sex toy) but won't rule someone out if they have no pic. The man who became my very best Domestic had no profile pic on here... he wrote me and grabbed my attention, I gave him a try and he was an excellent servant. So I'm open.

While I do think people who are looking should make some kind of effort with a picture, that's only for their sake to help catch someone's attention. I don't care on a personal level.

I have to disagree about the sex toy though. Sex toy photos are huge turn offs for me. I am majorly squicked out by the thought of toys that have been used with other people. Especially when someone has a picture featuring some huge dildo or a collection of buttplugs. Enjoy them mate, you're not coming anywhere near me with those.

It seems like you're equivocating (mmmph! good word) collarchat forum avatars and collarme pictures.

Regarding forum avatars: I agree. I find it jarring to talk with someone on the often intimate level but have no image to connect with. I feel like a no-avatar account has an extra layer of anonymity, which leaves me cold. Anyone who has ever participated on an anonymous forum (4chan leaps to mind) understands how its different interacting with faceless "nameless" people. It helps when the person has a nicely filled profile or profile pictures, but I often find the stub of a forum account matches the stub of a social account.

The excuse of remaining anonymous does not carry water. Many (most) forum avatars are not actual faces. It's perfectly acceptable to have a geometric shape, pop culture reference, or model as the forum avatar picture. I accept only two explanations: 1) I'm not sure how to upload a picture but don't care enough to find out. 2) I purposefully want to invoke a shield from being judged based on my forum picture.

Regarding collarme's social pictures: Clearly, I understand and am patient with those who want to protect privacy interests. The best way to keep people from finding your face on a kink website's profile is by not uploading your face onto a kink website's profile. I like seeing people, but understand fully when the picture is cropped or edited to protect one's secret identity.

If I was on the prowl, I'd hesitate to invest a lot of time into a profile that was not complete (including at least one picture). Incomplete profiles suggest "I don't take this very seriously, so the odds of your thoughtful email going to waste is 85%." I don't care for those odds.

Here's what it boils down to: Not having a complete profile is like calling someone on the phone and not giving your name first. It's not a deal breaker, but its poor form. Bad "netiquette."

I am going to disagree here. I don't think having a personal picture up on the profile is anything at all like not identifying yourself on the phone. Unless, of course, you are talking on a speaker phone to a half million strangers to whom you don't mind giving your name. I have a picture on my profile. It shows my puppy. This should tell someone that he is important to me, and that I love my dog. This tells you a bit about my character, does it not? If people want to say to me, "Hey, your profile picture makes you look like a bitch!" I don't mind. I will laugh at it and tell them point blank that I AM a bitch.

I teach in a small town in Texas. Simply having a profile on this website could cost me my job. There is NO WAY IN HELL I will put a picture up here of me. I must have plausible deniablity in case someone links this site to me in any way, shape, or form. I like my job, yanno?

You want to know what I look like? Talk to me. You only want to see what I look like so you can get your rocks off in some fap fantasy? Bugger off, not interested. For what its worth, I am NOT actively seeking anything more than friendship.

I'd rather they'd catch my interest with the way they speak, their personality and our mutual interests. I dont have a picture cause i feel that if they want to know me, the looks shouldnt be the first priority on their minds. If so, it raises a red flag for me. Pictures of sex toys.......leaves me with an aftertaste. If i feel they're more showing off then being themselves, i close the door.

So, it depends what you're here for i guess. Hook up or get to know people and learn?
