No,there was never such a time. Responsible folks don't throw around the phrase "traitor",not today and not in any of our yesterdays. Irresponsible folks,from time to time,sought to gain some sort of advantage by using such demagoguery ...but they were quickly exposed for what they were. McCarthy comes to mind,was that who you were referring to ?

one thrid of the defenders at the Alamo were hispanic, Jaun Seguin had more on the way when it fell and another Mexican state was in revolt against Santa Anna's dictatorship.

Well, her take's a little..... rough, but she's more or less right. Texas used to be part of Mexico, a ton of Americans came in and settled there (many were illegal immigrants - talk about irony), and then they decided they wanted to secede and form their own country. The Mexican govt of course wasn't too keen on that, and so there was a war, and the Alamo was the most famous battle. But that doesn't have a lot to do with the real issue - I'm not sure why subrob brought it up. The real issue is death threats, which are incontravertibly wrong and definitely should be investigated.

Actually the Mexicans promised the Americans land tomove there. The Tejanos as the American mexicans were called supported the extablishment of constirutional government in 1824. For years they peacefully argued for thier rights as Mexican citezens. It was only after Stephn Austin was imprisoned for taking a petition for full statehood to Santa Anna that things turned violent and the Texans decided to break away.

You know, from reading the article and seeing this woman, I honestly believe this is just one of those examples of someone using the word "kill" in the casual way that many use the word. You know, the mother who says of the teenage kid out late, "I'm gonna kill them when they get home", kind of thing. It's a way of expressing anger, but not meant to be taken literally. I'm not sure I would waste Secret Service budget on investigating this woman, but if that's what people feel is necessary, then so be it, but it seems like "overkill" to me. [&:]
