Abraham Obama has returned, someone call Sam & Dean!

I guess the HuffnPuff doesn't agree with Scraborough

Carville on Cooper... Good speech but a hit and a miss, and Obama has lowered the bar.

'Register to vote' Google searches double after Obama speech

President Obama ended his acceptance speech Thursday night at the Democratic National Convention with a request for votes.

I ask you tonight for your vote....

If you reject the notion that this nation's promise is reserved for the few, your voice must be heard in this election.

If you reject the notion that our government is forever beholden to the highest bidder, you need to stand up in this election.

If you believe that new plants and factories can dot our landscape, that new energy can power our future, that new schools can provide ladders of opportunity to this nation of dreamers, if you believe in a country where everyone gets a fair shot, and everyone does their fair share and everyone plays by the same rules, then I need you to vote this November.

It seems a few people got the message.

Google reported that searches for "register to vote" doubled nationwide in the moments directly following Obama's speech.

Meanwhile, "Barack Obama" and "Joe Biden" were, respectively, the No. 1 and No. 2 most searched for DNC speakers on day three of the convention. "Gabby Giffords," who delivered the night's Pledge of Allegiance came in No. 3, followed by Sen. John Kerry.

Obama convention glow dimmed

Reuters, no sign of convention bounce for Obama

Keep enjoying the Kool-Aid kali.

LOL, Rassmussen, Daily Caller (with additional spin by Faux) and a poll before Clinton spoke, let alone Obama....

Some hard hitting investigative analysis there.

Oh, yeah, and it is a poll.

We know why you want the economy to stay in the shitter, the more desperate people become, the more business you do... But how about for once coming up with a citation disproving anything I posted?

mnottertail -> RE: President Obama's speech (9/7/2012 1:23:00 PM)

I just did.  Rassmusson, Daily Caller and so on.   Prove me that they have any good data about anything ever on more than a 1/2 of 1% basis.

He said he's going to do the "same type of bold experimentation" to create jobs.
Sheesh,.... 43 months of 8 % or more unemployment and he wants to keep doing the same thing!

slvemike4u -> RE: President Obama's speech (9/7/2012 2:25:22 PM)

Better than Romney repeating the failed policies of Bush which caused the recession and all of that unemployment

(Reuters) - President Barack Obama regained some footing and overtook his Republican rival Mitt Romney in a new Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Friday, a day after the end of the Democratic convention.

In what appears to be a convention-induced bounce, Obama jumped ahead in the latest daily tracking poll with 46 percent of 1,434 likely voters saying they would vote for him if the November 6 elections were held today, topping Romney's 44 percent

"We added 96,000 new jobs, ugh.. that's terrible, folks. We should totally go back to the policies where we were losing 750,000 jobs per month."

A black security guard was watching the speech on one of the TVs in our gym; he was riveted. That made an impression on me. I thought of all the other black Americans in the US watching Obama on TV and taking in the moment like it was magic.

The thing that continually strikes me about Obama is his calm and good nature; he's grounded and he's optimistic. He inherited the biggest pile of shit of any President since Roosevelt, and although he's aged, he's weathered the storm remarkably. The only mud the right can sling at him is that he's a socialist, a Muslim, or an illegal immigrant. Because all of that reeks of desperation, the Republicans are trying to tag him with the deficit. Its a really sad tactic given their own history of profligacy.

Foreign correspondents from France and the Ukraine were asked to give their impression about the difference between the REP and DEM conventions, and each said the DEM convention was strikingly diverse and the REP convention was a sea of middle aged white people. Subrob, Popeye, the Heretic, and Sanity were present and cheering for Romney like the four horsemen. White middle-aged guys all.

In a shocking development President Obama accepted his parties nomination to run for re-election.
He followed that with a soaring example of Presidential oratory ,presenting a compelling case for the job he has done,the work that remains to be done,the stark contrast of choice offered to the electorate....A great speech,a great end to a successful convention.
Opinions ?

Yeah...I have a comment....

As a Republican, contrary to news reports that he (and his speech) was/were weak, I thought he was stunning....remarkable at minimum. As a salesman and an owner of small businesses, I watch people like this to learn from them. He is a fucking Master.

Romney has an uphill battle to beat this guy because, as an orator....frankly, Obama puts Clinton to shame, and Clinton is probably the best in our generation as to making unadulterated noise sound like Shakespeare.

Whether I agree with Obama or not is beside the point...the man, as a public speaker, is nothing short of outstanding.

I never understood that. How does the DOL know that people have given up looking for a job? Do they go down to Washington waving a white flag? 1.483 million white flags? And exited the workforce? Where's the door? Or do they just throw themselves on their swords? 1.483 million bloody swords? I'm beginning to think the "give up" is a myth. No, I believe people don't EXIT the workforce until they retire, hit the lottery, or die.

It's pretty straighforward, Vince.  Some stop being elegible for unemployment benefits, and simply drop into invisibility.  Others apply for SSI disability, and magically disappear from one list of victims, to reappear on another list of victims.  Some move back in to the parental "basement," doing what they can in the underground economy, and don't get counted on any list.  More are working shit jobs they can't get out of, and that comes up as employed in the count.

servantforuse -> RE: President Obama's speech (9/7/2012 6:53:19 PM)

Lucy, We are out of the recession for quite some time now. We should be creating 250,000 jobs per month just to get back to 6 % unemployment. The Obama administration has failed and he will be replaced.

Lucylastic -> RE: President Obama's speech (9/7/2012 7:01:21 PM)

I applaud your dreams, its important to dream....
How will Willard increase those numbers with his plans??? and add 12 million jobs in four years, when they cant give any details until they are elected..[8|] how long is the trickle down economics gonna take to work?
A year of blocking the "jobs bill", will they rewrite it ??? and take credit for any growth before january???
how many people do you think believe he can do that.

Barack Obama is the President of the United States. He has done nothing in the last four except to blame the pervious administration. His chickens have come home to roost.

Lucy, a real recovery will begin with a change in leadership, and a change in the mood of the country.
