Let me spell it out rob.

I buy insurance. A lot of people don't.
They show up at the ER and get treated and they don't pay. Said treatment is expensive.
I'm gonna let you in on a deep dark seekrit. There isnt a money fairy that magically pays those bills that uninsured folks run up.
The cost is passed on to those who have insurance like me. This makes my bills higher. Therefore, My insurance company charges me more in premiums so they can turn a profit.

The bottom line is I am paying for the healthcare of those who refuse to buy insurance.
With mandated insurance, I dont have to pay for the healthcare of those lazy Socialist fuckers. They have to step up and pay their own bills.

Only the hospital does bill them, gives them discounts, works out payment plans, and they do pay for their service... Or they appear in court. The hospitals don't write everything off for everyone who doesn't have insurance.

Nor do the Doctors... They bill separately, and have their own collections process.

That's the problem with your argument Bill, the hospitals DO try to collect from people who don't have insurance, they're obviously not successful 100% of the time, but they do attempt to collect the debt.

You know our side never had a problem with eliminating pre existing conditions, right? It's the mandate that's forcing everyone to buy insurance we want repealed.

You are upset because you are being forced to buy better coverage at a lower cost???why?

Prove it's better coverage... Medicaid is pretty shitty "insurance". Unless you're so fucking broke, you have a zero spend down.

You're right in one part. They bill em. The only problem is that they dont collect squat.
Take a 150K Bill and as long as the patient sends em a few bucks a month, they're screwed. They cant go to court. They cant get a judgement. They cant even report it to the credit bureaus.
I had shoulder surgery about 9 years ago. the unpaid balance after insurance was about 2500. They sent long blustery threatening letters but I kept sending them $50/month until it was paid off and they were powerless to do more than bluster.
They end up collecting a tiny fraction of what they're owed but that's OK, here comes someone with insurance. We'll overbill him to the point that even after we take what the Insurance company gives us, we're still far enough ahead to make up for the deadbeats.

Bottom line is that you and I are paying for their health care thru higher premiums.

Hospitals try to collect but the amount collected is tiny.
You and I make up the difference. That, my friend is a Leftist's dream.
"I do stupid shit, I get hurt, I go to the Hospital to get the bones set, the people who spent their money on insurance get to pay for it so I can go do more stupid shit"

Why should I have to pay for the health care of every fucker that's too lazy to buy insurance?
Wouldn't that be socialist that people are entitled to things that they refuse to pay for?

Who is forcing you to buy insurance... Other than Obama? Are the republicans forcing you to carry insurance instead of paying out of pocket? If you don't understand the difference, nothing I type will matter.

You guys keep bringing up this Heritage plan... Tell me, was the plan ever voted on? Presented in a bill? Signed by the President? Fought in the courts?

If you answer no, the point is moot. Proposals don't matter, the laws on the books are the only thing that matter.

And the ACA law is legal.

Next.

Did I say it wasn't legal? It is the largest middle class tax increase in the history of the country... But we're supposed to keep that part quiet, because Obama is the middle class President

Do you not know how to quote people properly yet after all this time? Owner made that post, not me.

What is your validation for attributing that dream to leftists? Don't rightists like getting free shit at someone elses expense?

Why do you assume that everyone is like you and does stupid shit just so they can get hurt and fuck with the hospital and doctors and use the nuance of the law to do so? There are, I am sure, many people who find themselves in the emergency room with no inusurance and not having done anything stupid.

My medicaid is fantastic. PA now offers 4 plans to chose from, each with different co pays and such. And the best Doctors in the area all accept it.

Maybe we need to nationalize Medicaid as well, since states cant seem to do that job either.

I have never had to deal with medicaid.
It would seem that this field would benifit much from economies of scale that a national plan might present.

I believe so too. The states have a basic minimum they must offer, then can add more. Some do... some dont.

Romney has always said that he would repeal and replace it. He will do just that. He can replace it and at the same time keep in it what he likes. No flip flop here at all.

How many people have you voted for with an 'R' after their name ? Very few I'd guess.

I vote for who I feel can best lead this country. And, I am quite sure I have voted for more Republican Presidents than you have Democratic ones.
