Oh Haus, that's some imagination you've got, and that pretty much covers it. One of the best things about menopause, is not menstruating anymore.

THIS!!!!!!!!!!

GRRRRR. That's all I'm saying about THAT.

It's nice to know that the thrill of endometriosis is mostly over, and now I have the future of bone loss and such... YAY HRT! (when I GET there...)

I am going to be daring and suggest that it's not the menstruation, it's the insertion of an object that the OP finds alluring. I've been in these kinds of convos before, and it always comes down to that.

My periods were very easy and pleasant, almost even. So thankfully absolutely nothing like haus described.

Mine are now actually worse than what Haus described.

I've not gone the HRT route and don't regret it. But it is valid for many. My stuff has been so mild that I've not had the need. Hopefully you have a similar experience.

Using FR:

I *have* heard of attempting to recreate the female menstrual cycle. Which for those of us who experience or have experienced painful, life disrupting menses, seems wrong on so many levels. For a trans person who desperately wants to be a *real* female, somehow its not.

You know, I've been fascinated with transgender issues my entire life, and I believe it's b/c of my aunt who used to be my uncle and who used to take care me and my sisters when we were small. She was one of the most gender ambiguous people I have ever met pre op. She also had one of the first operations (she went out of the states, I was less than 10, I don't know where, alas we don't talk about those things in my family). She was actually sis gender but I am attempting to not complicate things here.

In any case, I've had this fascination a long time and have met many transgendered people. (I even had the great pleasure of meeting Haus in person!! )

And although it seems to make sense that someone who looks quite male to, instead of attempting to look over the top female, to maybe try for looking perhaps a bit gender ambiguous, at least to start. I have learned this is not what someone who desperate wants to be a real female wants and needs.

This need is about so much more than "looking a bit female." It goes so much deeper. So although using a buttplug to simulate menses may seem pathetic or comic to some, please try and consider what it *really* is, which is a need on such a deep, primal level that unless you have experienced it, we are all hard pressed to envision it.

OP
There are a few different ways to look at this.
example: there are some bio-males who eroticize cross-dressing as women without the desire to be a woman. It doesn't matter if they don't really look feminine or womanly--the experience for them can sometimes be just the humiliation of cross dressing. So in that same vein, I have heard similar comments from bio-males who weren't interested in the actual experience of menstruation, but had erotic association with the humiliation of a simulated "period."

Most of the transwomen I know have said they would actually give ANYTHING to experience a real period....and although it certainly boggles MY mind why, it isn't really different from trans-guys (pre-hormones) who long to shave when a lot of guys absolutely hate the pain-in-the-ass hassle of daily shaving.

If it floats your boat to pop in a butt plug and fantasize it's a tampon---go for it.

If you're more interested in experiencing a period.... I suggest the following.
1. Buy a pair of pants that are three sizes too small and squeeze into them
2. Drink about eight or nine McDonalds milkshakes followed by an ExLax and hold 'em in--that should give you the bloating, gas and cramps...not to mention the inevitable aftermath.
3. Don't sleep for about 5 days-- you know you're about right when the Folgers commercials make you cry.... and the beer commercials piss you off. And you hate everyone. Everyone. And you'll have no idea why but you know you're right.
4. Eat a pint of chocolate haagen daas.....chase it with a bag of chips....follow by a medium-rare steak.
5. If the buttplug doesn't work for you and you want the pad experience....just go straight to the sandpaper on your genitals to get the full effect of chaffing.
6. Repeat Steps 1 through 5 for a good 7 days straight.

And if you want an extra bonus....have someone hit your nuts with a sledgehammer, then go to a GYN who will tell you that the pain is perfectly normal because he believes endometriosis is over diagnosed.

NOt to mention the sweating, the leaks, the clots,
Haus, just Brilliant, thankyou!

Beats hell out of me. She complains of bloating and cramps. I'm just the man.

I think someone is pulling your leg. Cramps are caused by strong contractions in the uterus which cut off the blood supply of neighboring blood vessels resulting in a temporary lack of oxygen. The lack of oxygen manifests as pain. No uterus means there are no uterine contractions to press against the blood vessels, cut off the oxygen supply and cause the pain.

Cramps are caused by strong contractions. And pain is caused by prostraglandins. If the cramps are intestinal, causing the lovely period side effect of either constipation or diarrhea, then you will feel them and the pain.

I guess I am going to have to redirect this back on topic again and what it was intended for.
Some Trans people see their ass as a vagina, therefore my question was do they compare the use of a butt plug, even momentarily, as to that to a genetic woman using a tampon.
Since this post began, that question was left very open and was intended for Trans people to answer. Don’t mind others answering, actually it was stated on a post earlier.
However some of the answers are ridiculous especially this one and while some genetic girls might feel the description of cramps you portrayed etc as spot on, I for one think comparing constipation to having a period in an attempt to be funny... really idiotic.
So what is your suggestion for Trans people to simulate menopause? Break their bones to “experience” what osteoporosis is like?

Slight hijack, LadyPact, but transwomen DO have periods. They don't bleed, of course, but those that have taken female hormones get to experience cramps, bloating, etc.

Certainly this is thought provoking!

More from Psychological rather than physical.

The OP was intended to focus on the psyche rather the physiology in the first instance!

I don't think Haus was trying to upset you at all. Since your original question was fairly open it was a fair assumption that it may have been about trying to experience what a woman goes through during a period. The actual suggestions may have been a little tongue in cheek but as you can see from some of the responses, it really is that miserable an experience for many women. It seems your focus is on the insertion of objects, which is fine, but wasn't clear from the start so people have started discussing. And during a period, the actual insertion of tampons is not the main concern (and not a concern at all for women who use pads instead) but some of the more unpleasant symptoms are.

Unfortunately there are not a huge number of trans people round here who can answer the question from exactly that perspective, but I don't think the majority of the responses have been that silly and people have tried to find an angle from which to be understanding or helpful.

Now if only Stella would post on this thread... and I wish that the person whose name I can't say since she isn't here was still here, she was fabulous.
