Now according to Gallup 31% of Americans identified as Democrats. Now we subtract 47% from the 31% that registered Democrat and that leaves about 14.5% of the Democrat electorate.

Jesus, what bullshit math, Ron. Romney did not say 47% of Democrats. He said: "All right -- there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent on government, who believe that, that they are victims, who believe that government has the responsibility to care for them. Who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing." and "[M]y job is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives," So, Richie Rich classifies nearly half of the American electorate as shiftless moochers. You can't put lipstick on a pig, Ron, and pretend he is a presidential candidate, no matter what sort of fuzzy math you use.

At the same time how can we afford Obama.. In my eyes I don't want to vote for either.

One is handing out money we don't have, the other wants to cut programs that are important to the less fortunate .

There has to be a better way!

The better way starts with better sources of information:

Obama spending binge never happened

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — Of all the falsehoods told about President Barack Obama, the biggest whopper is the one about his reckless spending spree.

As would-be president Mitt Romney tells it: “I will lead us out of this debt and spending inferno.”

Almost everyone believes that Obama has presided over a massive increase in federal spending, an “inferno” of spending that threatens our jobs, our businesses and our children’s future. Even Democrats seem to think it’s true.

But it didn’t happen. Although there was a big stimulus bill under Obama, federal spending is rising at the slowest pace since Dwight Eisenhower brought the Korean War to an end in the 1950s.

Even hapless Herbert Hoover managed to increase spending more than Obama has.

that which you quoted, was a quote from another in which I derided the math and the effusively ignorant conclusions of it.

.31 * . 47 =   .1457 (which would be the correct calculation even though these are disparate universes and no other connections than fantasy) but since this is not a completely random universe of numbers there with the 47% he is talking about, but preponerantly retired, infirm and elderly, with welfare and others thrown in (hey, some active military) it is probably overwhelmingly lower middle class and poor republicans.

Q.E.D.

My point was the stuff below the line that you didnt snatch, as it is in this case.

My maths are in order.  I just didnt show alot of my work.

crazyml -> RE: Romney Tells Millionaire Donors What He REALLY Thinks of Obama Voters (9/18/2012 7:10:44 AM)

TBH... ron, that nearly caught me out too.

Can ya be persuaded to use the quote function? ;-)

I do alot, except when I hit these rabidly contemptuous moments in which I must mordantly vituperate imbecilic cant portrayed as learned discourse.

My faults are legion, guys.  Color mea maxima culpa.

Sorry about that, Ron. I was kinda surprised. I guess I am too used to the quote space provided by this Board.

Fact-Checked: Romney’s ’47%’ Of Non-Taxpaying Americans From Red States

I figured that was the likely case, thanks for the actual facts corroborating it.

ERM NO
He actually SAID

There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…These are people who pay no income tax.
Romney went on: "[M]y job is is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."
maybe you should actually watch the video, so you dont fall for your own bs again
Remember all the comments of 47% of americans dont pay income tax??????? that is what he is TALKING about.

@After a restriction was lifted, Mother Jones reported that this fundraiser was held at the Boca Raton home of controversial private equity manager Marc Leder on May 17

Like I said, he's talking about Democrat registered voters, or about 47% of the Democrat registered electorate.

Now according to Gallup 31% of Americans identified as Democrats. Now we subtract 47% from the 31% that registered Democrat and that leaves about 14.5% of the Democrat electorate.

Again, what is the problem here? Is your argument that there really aren't 14.5% Americans on government assistance? Or is your side having a hissy fit because Romney told the truth, and your side doesn't like the truth?

Party on Rob.... alone....
its Deja moo all over again

Actually, Romney should be nicer to welfare recipients.
They're his biggest supporters.

It is a sad fact that when conservatives speak of "welfare" the recipient is almost always female, and black, with numerous children from multiple fathers. But white males who also take advantage of government payouts, for whatever reason, are not on "welfare". Just the way these definitions work. Obviously you didn't get the memo.

Someday, it is my hope, that people will recognize that we are all in this together and there is only one pot. Until then, we have to put up with this us vs. them categorization - which, whether you are one side or the other, is actually not helpful. I find the rhetoric of the left, the 99% vs 1% equally unhelpful to understanding how we as a group move forward.

We really are, for better or for worse, in the canoe together. And sadly, I think we are heading towards rapids. And no one knows how to steer.....[&:]

Thought that article was worth some bandwidth:

http://www.addictinginfo.org/2012/09/17/fact-checked-romneys-47-of-non-taxpaying-americans-from-red-states/

It seems that all of the lazy, socialist parasites that love the Obama’s progressive taxation programs actually all reside in the reddest of Republican red states.

[image]http://cdn.theatlantic.com/static/mt/assets/politics/nonpayers.banner.taxfound.jpg[/image]

Despite the fact these numbers only represent Americans who filed for taxes with no liability, and although these Americans did pay federal payroll taxes and state and local sales taxes but didn’t earn enough to file income taxes, that they disproportionately come from all the “freedom-loving, hands off my rifle, mountain dew, and truck nutz” states illustrates how clueless Romney is to actual US taxation and how ignominiously disingenuous he is to the actually productive states that voted for Obama in 2008.

Mitt Romney is so out of touch that he probably doesn’t even know the cost of a dozen Faberge eggs. He thinks someone earning $200k a year is middle-class. He proposed a tax plan that would raise taxes on the middle-class while giving his wall street buddies more diamond-encrusted Hummer yachts to wave the Cayman Islands flag. He has said he isn’t ’concerned about the poor‘ and would probably strap them to the roof of his car. Since he believes that half the country is a bunch of free loading socialist house guests, which blatantly doesn’t take into account seniors, students, and (apparently) Republican voters, he’ll just continue to put out deliberately false and racially tinged attack ads for these low info (previously known as morons) voters.

DomKen -> RE: Romney Tells Millionaire Donors What He REALLY Thinks of Obama Voters (9/18/2012 10:51:15 AM)

This does put a new light on his not mentioning the troops in his convention speech. Troops in combat do not pay income taxes making them part of the "47%" that he considers to not be personally responsible.

isoLadyOwner -> RE: Romney Tells Millionaire Donors What He REALLY Thinks of Obama Voters (9/18/2012 10:52:38 AM)

This thread (and the media coverage) consists of the same old shrill Obama ideologues beating their chests. Where are the outraged non Obama voters?

mnottertail -> RE: Romney Tells Millionaire Donors What He REALLY Thinks of Obama Voters (9/18/2012 10:57:32 AM)

Oh, they are lazy, government handout republicans that dont want to take any personal responsibility and have the government pay their way.  That's why they are silent on this matter.

So they are, in fact, Obama supporters.

mnottertail -> RE: Romney Tells Millionaire Donors What He REALLY Thinks of Obama Voters (9/18/2012 11:04:46 AM)

Not the people who dont pay federal income tax. They are in fact preponderantly republican.

So Obama supporters are all lazy and irresponsible as opposed to just NDAA, Gitmo, Patriot Act, and Drone loving hypocrites?

didnt you hear your dear leader(presumptive) of COURSE all supporters of Obama are lazy and irresponsible etc etc
