I'm genuinely glad to hear it. Unfortunately, some girls make bad choices or have unfortunate things happen to them like rape. They should have the option to decide how they move forward, on their own terms.

... with the guidance of their parents.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

*Guidance* being the operative word. Guidance and determination are different things. It should, ultimately, be the choice of the girl.

Nobody is taking any parents right to talk to their children and be involved in their life away here.

It is when you are closed minded and only choose to believe that your way is the right way.

They just want to close their eyes and say everything in everyone's world is perfect..young boys do not get young girls pregnant, rich well off children never get an STD or have have children out of wedlock, those type of things only happen to the poor, I believe Palin's child proved that...

But when you look at the states who receive the largest chuck of taxpayer money (social welfare) they are all down south, why there must not be any girls of high school age that never got pregnant in the south, cause conservatives don't raise their children that way God protects them from such things

Once again; these would be your standards, my friend; not mine. By what right do you force your beliefs into my life?

Can I force your children into a parochial school? Would that be off limits? Then what gives you the right to force your morality/ethics onto my children?

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Giving a a drug like this to a 13 year old without the permission of a parent is bordering on the insane. Who will be responsible for the fallout if this drug is found to be dangerous to girls of this age group ?

Probably the parents. [8|]

Definitely not the government. (sarc)

LMFAO -----> the guidance of their parents? What parents? In case you havent noticed - most of these kids parents are LONG GONE. Welcome to the latchkey world - I believe it started with Generation X.

And once again we're punishing GIRLS not women - GIRLS that have to go through something that they most likely dont have the maturity, means or competence to see through - and then of course hell, fuck their education, you dont need that in this day and age - just go sign up at the welfare office and get on the dole. The taxpayers will see you through.

Where are the fathers? - oh yes, I forgot - out making more babies, [sm=sex.gif] -------> and whistling a happy tune - la, la, la.

Sometimes I gotta wonder if you live in Mayberry and your next door neighbors are the Cleavers.

Please explain how preventing you from forcing your beliefs onto your children is the same as allowing you to force your beliefs on the children of another? You seem to believe that allowing your children to exercise their rights to self-determination somehow takes a right away from you. If so, it's a right you don't have, anyway. Your right, in this case, is to counsel your child and make your feelings on the matter clear. You do not have the right to force them to carry a child.

If this were an opt-in program, I would agree. What guarantee does anyone have that the parents even GOT the form in order to opt-out?

What makes you think a CHILD has a "right" to self-determination in the first place? Their cognitive functions aren't even completely developed at this age, and you think that they have the wisdom to truly think this through, including the additional health risks that may present?

How do you think we decent, compassionate. intellectually unimpaired, feel about vacuous, freedom usurping punks?

Women should start lobby groups to tell men how to maintain and use THEIR reproductive organs, utilizing the same "hands on knowledge" men employ... Who's got catheters and Drano?

At 14 you are not a woman.

The rights of a parent should not extend to the "right" to force one's daughter to carry and deliver a child against her will. This isn't the Dark Ages. I applaud the decision and only wish it went further by eliminating the nonsensical ability of parents to "opt out" on behalf of their children.

Republicans generally believe that children are chattel property. I mean IN REALITY, not just here... They used to hang horse thieves, so imagine how they feel about people offering their property birth control.

At 14 you are not a woman.

Does that in any way mean that at 14 they're infertile or something?

Beacause if you're old enough to consent to something, you're old enough to handle the consequences of your choices.

What does a fucking form of any kind have to do with anything in the world?   Are teabaggers Volgons as well?

I'm going to go with the fact that they're sapient creatures capable of articulating hopes and dreams and acting to achieve them. Many are still developing their wisdom, which is exactly why programs like this one should exist. However, the fact that they may make poor decisions doesn't give parents the right to make those decisions *for* them. We're not talking about decisions like whether to wear makeup. We're talking about decisions that will determine the entire course of their future. Just because they're your children doesn't make them your property. Or, as an old saying goes, "Your child's life is his/her own, not yours."
