My part of the world made it into the pages of the LA Times, here in the last week, as an old, ongoing, community dispute suddenly became worthy of their attention for a deceptively written feature story (I'll be happy to elaborate on why it's deceptive, as needed).

Surfing while drinking my coffee this morning brought me to this wonderful piece at the Washington Post, revealing the breaking news that there are racist douchebags on Facebook.

Racism could sway the election

My suspicion is that there will be many such stories in the weeks ahead. Sadly, I think these stories will come, not because they are important, or need to be told, but because they'll help fan the flames of racial division, and poke at white liberal guilt in the run-up to the election.

My suspicion is that cons will edge toward open displays of racism as the Presidential race moves increasingly out of reach. Cons will of course deny this undeniable fact but denying reality is pretyy much the only thing the present conservative movement has left.

Notice how Obama is avoiding his record over the last three years like the plague.

All the Dems have to run on are race, class, and scaring the elderly.

You can expect every word a conservative or republican says to be scrutinized for ANYTHING they can use to claim racism, or class warfare, or another attack on vagina's.

I'm not suggesting there isn't racism for a moment, Polite. I'm speculating that it's going to become very fashionable to make it a hot talking point du jour, as a President who can't run on his record tries to keep his job, with a mainstream media that tongues his balls at every opportunity.

Do you really think that. With more than half of the voters putting this gentleman in office, if a large minority of the country were so racist, then one would think some element of the lunatic fringe would have expressed their racism in a more identifiable manner. Heaven forbid that the citizens of this country, expressng their dissatisfaction in a legal and viable manner be accused of being racist based simply for voting against a poorly performing president's record.

Funny thing, Polite. The only racist crap (with the odd hilarious gem) that shows up in my personal email comes from a hard-core Democrat. It won't be affecting his vote.

I define racism as treating people differently because of the color of their skin, be that in the redlining to an outlying area, which created the community highlighted in the first link, or the condescending, "we have to make allowances (for the poor things)," racism of the left.

The subject here though, is whether the media is going to push the issue into the spotlight, in an effort to influence the election, by appeal to the latter.

If what you're saying is that the republican party has not one intelligent thing to say to non-whites, the working classes, or the elderly then, what you're essentially saying is that the republican party is fucked.

The racism hasnt stopped since before obama came on the scene and anyone thinking it hasnt and wont be used in the next month is deluding themselves.
However It is expected that there will be the claims that its all MSM and the Lefts doing, making a big noise out of anything, This is a poor attempt by the right to be able to get their pre emptive strikes in ... presto...Thanks Rich You must be so proud...Keep it up.
