I admit that I don't understand the whole Bob thing as I wasn't a part of it. I don't really have any problems with the moderation these days. Yes, I have actually received gold letters, mostly in the last six weeks. But I can state undeniably thatbeach and every one was deserved, if not expected before I even hit the post button. I have leaned to stay from the intro threads, and I use the report button.

Now back in the days of Mod11, well, she scared the crap out of me! A letter from 11 was like a death sentence! I am enjoying most of the new mods, and like seeing them actually participate now and again. They all seem to have a witty sense of humor, IMO.

OsideGirl -> RE: Thoughts on moderation (10/1/2012 10:16:20 AM)

For the most part the gold letters don't bother me. The one that pissed me off is when in the admit it thread I said that I was disappointed that the flounce didn't stick the landing. I was told that it was posting derogatory comments about another poster and since there was no name mentioned, I did not denigrate anyone else, merely spoke of my own feelings...I felt that it was arbitrary.

Quite.

I have got the posts of 91 nicks on Hide, if I recall correctly.
The good news is that once I put them on Hide, they nearly all desist from posting on the forums; I dunno why. (Given that phenomenon, I do find it curious that a few persist in posting on here...)

If you have them on iggy, how do you know whether they post or not?

If a third party quotes the person on iggy, the person who put them on iggy can see the post.

The only reason I know is because I quoted a twatwaffle some time back that dang near every Dominant female had on hide.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Thoughts on moderation (10/1/2012 3:07:54 PM)

If you have someone on hide, they show up in the queue with a marker saying that you've hidden them, so if you want to unhide you can see the thread in proper continuity.

Hillwilliam -> RE: Thoughts on moderation (10/1/2012 3:08:40 PM)

Ive never put anyone on hide so I don't know.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Thoughts on moderation (10/1/2012 3:10:00 PM)

It really smooths the reading experience sometimes.

Hillwilliam -> RE: Thoughts on moderation (10/1/2012 3:12:57 PM)

Meh, if someone is acting like that much of a fuckwit, I wanna know what they're saying so I can laugh at it.

Ok, but if you unhide them for the sake of continuity, doesn't it kind of defeat the purpose of hiding them in the first place?

Jeez, I have exactly one person on ignore.

I must have said that wrong...it shows the person as having made a post, but the post itself is hidden.

So the tempting UNHIDE button is there in case you need to be reminded of why you hid the person, in which case you see their posts in context.

I could tell you, but then I would take away your opportunity to solve this conundrum yourself. Good luck!

I am trying for a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. [8D]

LadyPact -> RE: Thoughts on moderation (10/1/2012 4:50:35 PM)

I don't know, Rule. There was definitely a guy over there in Pols and Rel who was giving you a run for the money. [8D]

I really do agree with Hill, though. At least on the point of having something in writing in the official areas of the site. (TOS, Admin Announcements, forum guidelines, etc.) Sticking a "change" in the middle of a thread somewhere is kind of a piss poor way of effectively communicating with ALL of the posters. The making rules up as it goes along is an impossible way to keep things smooth. Lots of us are into D/s around this joint. Are either of those methods how you'd run your dynamic?

And see, it's just as easy as a post like that to go from people talking to each other, otherwise known as the dreaded thread drift, to go back to the subject. Easy, huh?

LaTigresse -> RE: Thoughts on moderation (10/1/2012 5:32:13 PM)

Rock on!

culareD -> RE: Thoughts on moderation (10/1/2012 5:34:15 PM)

After not reading the previous comments, and just randomly jumping in, I have one silly question.

If I say I "LIKE"moderation, do I get a cool name when it is my turn for them to determine one?

OR

If I reply in a snarky way...will I get a HORRIBLE name?

HMMM...

Considering I (and probably a few other folks around here) have done such a good job at pissing at least some of them off, damn, I don't know if this would be a good time to ask or not. [8D]

To the Mods, that's called a joke. I suck at telling them, but I have this odd delusion that I think I'm funny.

ETA - Also, remember how often that I admit I'm not the brightest chick in the world. I'm thinking hitting that OK button for this post probably falls in that category.

LaTigresse -> RE: Thoughts on moderation (10/1/2012 7:53:47 PM)

It made me laugh so it couldn't have been all that bad.

BTW.......I absolutely HATE the movie Dumb and Dumber because I think the humour is just........dumb, not funny AT ALL. I am also not a fan of Jim Carey....at all.

Sooooooooo, whatever the hell that has to do with anything.

LadyPact -> RE: Thoughts on moderation (10/1/2012 7:58:58 PM)

You're the only one who gets Me, LaT.

Then again, I seem to recall some of the things about your own sense of humor not always being appreciated. [8D]
