beats the hell outta Me, litleone.....
a girl calling a man "Master" when she's in service to him sounds about as right as calling our parents " mom and dad" or our siblings by their first names....

it just fits, in My opinion, and is common... or at least it should be.

Instead of all the doms getting so uptight about having a title bestowed upon them by their submissives, I think they should take it as a compliment... a way of their submissives showing how much repsect and/or love they have for them.

Why do so many doms get uptight about being called Master, anyway ? Surely its not because of fear of not being able to live up to the moniker.... is it ?

I might be showing my ignorance here, but why is Master a wor[d] of 'greater signifcance and meaning'?

Why should it not be?

Consider the definition.

I have considered the definition and i can see where you're coming from.

In response to candle's Master: my dominant insisted i call him Sir from the minute we started talking, even before he collared me. Does that make him wrong? I don't think so.

And i don't understand why some are so uptight about their submisisve calling them a certain thing. I've also read that some are uptight about their submissives walking a certain amount of paces behind them, or kneeling in a certain way. I guess it just pleases them.

Every dom has something they are irrationally picky over.  And some doms really do like the micromanaging thing.

Thank God I do not have that problem!  I met a couple of Doms like that before I met Master.  There were other reasons why I went no further with them, but that whole micromanaging, walk X paces behind me stuff would have done me in!

i refer to my Master as "Daddy"....if He's feeling unusually strict or serious about a matter, then i might call Him "Master". Around company, i usually just call Him by His given name. However, when we're playing a game or just goofin' around....just about anything goes. Not only is He my Master (first and foremost) but He's also my best friend. We laugh together, cry together, and everything in between. :)

Depends on the given situation, jo calls me Master, when we are out of the house, in company other that M/s friends, she calls me Ste (yeah my real name lol), or nothing, we used to joke, i am the man with no name, because in town, Master or Sir isn't appropriate, and she feels awkward calling me by my given name, usually only mentioning it when she is talking *about* me.

When we were both gorean (just me left now(as stated in another thread under my nick however)) she used to call every Male Dominant - Master and every Female Dominant - Mistress, now that doesn't apply but she is only submissive to me.

I do not require it. She calls me Daddy sometimes, but mostly she calls me Boobie. When acknowledging an order she usually will say sir, but that is often said in a way that leaves no doubt that it is less than dripping with respect

Some Doms and Masters do wish to be refered to with Master M'lord or Sir ... I find it a respect issue when not called Sir .... BUT ... I do not expect a sub or slave to just randomly call me those names ...... if I have her respect then yes a title will be used ...... and not after everything that comes out fo her mouth eitherbut in answering a question I have asked then yes ...... as of late I am refered to as Daddy .... even in a public venue as its easier to explain then being called Sir or Master .... and because I also have children I do not need or want to have to explain to them why my girl calls me Master or Sir .. and Daddy seems to just work better in this situation

Just to shed a little light on this litleone .... the paces behind and that title to which a Dom is call by his submissive has alot in part to do with Old school D/s M/s relations .... the paces behind I believe started either in Gorean or Old Guard BDSM
How a Dominant is to be addressed is always discussed in the building phases of the relationship. My past slaves also refered to other Dominants with respect be it Sir or Ma'am as it was a direct reflection on me for her to show respect .. I don't push this as much anymore as I used to but it's something that still sits with me

i call someone that has gained respect 'Sir', respect is attained by their composure, empathy, intelligence, and to some degree the amount of respect they have been awarded by others.  i will not call anyone Sir on demand, this is strictly freewill.  Matter of factly all Dominants i have spoken to that have demanded such title, have had short existences in my life, as once the rock has been turned it just isn't so shiny on the earthbaring side.  i have yet to be mastered and have yet to be introduced to one that has truely master Him or Herself to be afforded such noteable respect; although i have been knowledged enough to understand that there are people in the lifestyle that truely are masters however i have yet to meet them in person.

Most of the time it's just his first name, or the occasional dear.  Every once in a while a Sir will slip out, but that's usually where our conversation has headed into, shall we say, certain areas.  Sometimes it's sarcastic, sometimes it's not, and he knows the difference.

Not to hung up on what we are called but it is usually Sir and Ma'am. I don't notice us being called anything else, though my wife is often called Mistress.

I call my Dom Sir, Master, sweetie, babe, the past few days I have been calling him My aging Gimp (his 37th birthday is tomorrow plus he got bitten by something last week and his leg blew up) So my bratty side can't help it, but apparently I  am gonna get punished for those recent names lol

And it's funny but he only calls me gina when I am irking him..or pissing him off. otherwise its dear, love, or elb (evil little bitch),
all depends on the situation. But I am also not or will I ever be a 24/7 sub. It's more of a kink to me. That statement might piss some of you off but this is me and this is me when I meet anyone, so it works well for me and those involved.

I say master when we are together alone. And in public I'll use a different name that he has chosen for that day. It's just a random name that he picks out
