Alecta -> RE: Is it possible to be too submissive? (10/2/2012 12:51:04 PM)

I don't think she needs to be BDSM orientated to take advantage of some of the finer points of service and submission you could offer!

Your welcome,

So does submitting (or so I've been told)

Rick, that nervousness is slaughtering you. It's understandable that you might lack confidence because you are inexperienced. You can't let such things rule you. What you present is what people see. Wouldn't you rather folks were seeing you being a good person or even that sense of humor that I just saw on another thread?
Save the fear for when the sadist is enjoying getting that response from you. Fear is yummy under the right circumstances. As a constant, not so much.

Strangely, I'm far more confident face to face, which is odd because you would think internet anonymity would bloster ones bravado.

A big issue is that when I first came to CM, I really didn't think through my first post or my profile, so I came across all wrong and I immediately made a bit of a bad name for myself with a few comments being made (quite justifiably) about my maturity. So I have been treading very carefully ever since.

I want to get along with the more experienced members here and learn as much as possible from them so I don't make the same mistake when I have go to my first real life event. Subsequently, when I am here, I tend to over compensate on the cautious side.

But point taken. In face to face I tend to do just fine, so yeah, I'll try to chill when I'm here.

Too true. She was thrilled when I dropped by one morning to make her breakfast.

Well thank you, but in this case it's just because I really do like her. Never done anything like that before.

Alecta -> RE: Is it possible to be too submissive? (10/2/2012 1:19:51 PM)

Often, the simplest form of submission is to just keep the other person in mind and put their happiness before yourself.

We're actually both very much like that with eachother. It's an odd pairing, but we both have been spending as much of our free time together as possible.

Seems to Me that you get along with folks just fine. Now, if I can see that, I'm not quite sure why you don't.

You know how the gals on this board are always saying we appreciate being treated like people? Maybe a little dose of that? Don't think of us as Dommes first. Think of us more like people you enjoy talking to. It might help you with that chill thing a little bit. [:)]

ETA - See? Just like how you're talking to Alecta now. See the difference when you relax?

MsSylverdawn -> RE: Is it possible to be too submissive? (10/2/2012 1:43:59 PM)

Yes.. you can be too submissive... you can be too anything... everything in moderation .. or eveything the way I like to moderate it might be more to the point.

Did you do the exercise?

Now, my first post wasn't intended to be patronising, it was intended to make you think. Did you miss the point? If so, then it's my bad.

Did I miss your point? Well, I'm a literate chap, so if I did miss your point you're going to have to put on your daddy pants and prepare to embrace the possibility that you didn't make it very well.

Now... I'm going to give you an example of how "patronising" might look..

<pats lap>

C'mere ya little scamp, and sit on Poppa's lap...

You asked "can a willingness to please a Domme in every other aspect of a relationship be a turn off, even if she believes it to be genuine?"

Now, Poppa could have said "Oh for fuck's sake, what the fuck do you think? Of course it can you fucking idiot".

But Poppa didn't do that.

Poppa asked you to think about the situation, and consider it from the other perspective.

If instead of getting your panties in a twist you'd actually fucking considered it, you'd be wiser than you are now.

Now... run along.

Neckbone -> RE: Is it possible to be too submissive? (10/3/2012 3:00:29 AM)

"Now I'm going to give you an example of how patronising might look" you just can't help yourself can you? But what you fail to understand is that's it's so very easy to do, for example the use of the word workshop as a verb it at best lazy, I wouldn't consider it to be literate (unless of course we were putting on a stage production)
Did you compare your answer to the others on this post? It seems to me the only person here with their "panties in a twist" would be yourself.

I don't know about that... from where I'm sitting, the only person with knotted panties seems to be you right now.

I don't think you do know, it's crazyml that HAS missed the point with both his posts and used abusive language on his second answer, people like him make these message boards unpleasant for everyone.

AthenaSurrenders -> RE: Is it possible to be too submissive? (10/3/2012 4:40:39 AM)

sorry Neckbone, but Crazy's original point was sound. Sometimes it is just a case of thinking something through from the opposite perspective. I didn't find what he said to be patronising.

Alecta -> RE: Is it possible to be too submissive? (10/3/2012 4:43:21 AM)

Oh, come on. Really? You're like superman with his glasses on obvious. Points on the lulz though.

Cliff's notes: Crazyml's known around here for that prickly sarcastic "isn't really offensive unless you have a chip on your shoulder to begin with" wit. You're now getting to be known for taking it badly. He's probably even giggling as he put down the last post.

What exactly was the original point then? Because I interpreted it the same way: can being too submissive put someone off? Crazy was trying to encourage the OP to see how this could be so.

And the abusive language was tongue in cheek in response to being called condescending.
