According to the USADA report, the USPS cycling team was the most highly organized, effective doping squad in the history of organized sports. All those victories came from cheating, evading drug tests, and lying to the public. Apparently Armstrong was the ringleader of the operation.

I wish it wasn't so.......

I still don't see where him giving up fighting people who just hated him is admitting guilt . You +would think after all this time they could come up with at least one test where it showed he took drugs .

Well, that and a shit load of former team mates now ruining their own current lives and reputation by admitting they were a part of organised team doping. Surely they're not all lying just to ruin Lance's day...?

Oh I don't think he's given up fighting people who just hated him.

I think it's the probably the vast weight of evidence against him that has caused him to give up.

Welcome to pro sports folks. In high school you learn the game, in college you learn to be fiercely competitive, and in pro you learn to be so competitive that you can't win if you live by the rules.


Sports are just the headliners, look to Wallstreet, Politics, Military, big business, etc. You only win if you can break the rules while making it LOOK like you're playing fair. GET OVER IT

Passing doping controls has never been solid proof of innocence, it's just what cyclists want people to believe. The great gift is not doping, it's outsmarting the doping controls. Most cyclists dope, this should be obvious from the big names in the sport who have all pointed fingers at Lance. It will be interesting to see what happens with Livestrong, and if it can survive this frenzy.

This. When it's pretty much accepted that everyone in the sport dopes, and you win something like seven Tour de France's, it doesn't take much of a leap to think, "Hey, maybe he's doping too."
Gotta admit, that makes lots more sense than "The one guy who doesn't dope always wins."

I kind of suspected he might have blamed his cancer treatments for continuous blood tranfusions, etc. I was always suspicious of him.

I think this is idiotic. So all the top athletes are doping? So basically you're going to have a dead decade in cycling where the records show no winners. Because even the second and third place finishers had to be doping as well. Despite none of them failing a test. And then you take down the top guy in your sport? And in doing so you take all his fellow top cyclist too. (since they were all were doping, even though they didn't fail test). So who are you going to hold up as the greatest cyclist of all time? The guy who consistently came in 15th place?

I can't explain why, but I have never liked Lance Armstrong. And now....I like him even less.

I also feel very sorry for all of the legitimate racers who had the misfortune to be competing in this sport when they were competing with a cheat. Sports are one of those things where there is a window of time for any athlete to professionally compete. I wonder how many different people would have won titles/events had Lance Armstrong and his doped up buddies not been competing at all?

This kind of behavior in sports (or any arena for that matter) does a huge disservice to everyone involved. So sad for the sport and all the honest athletes out there.

One of the reasons I have always admired Lance Armstrong is, he was a big symbol of hope for all those suffering similar cancers to him. Lets not forget the huge amounts of money this guy has raised for charity. The number of people, me included, who have been inspired by this guys zest for life. His accomplishments were huge and the guy showed extraordinary courage, determination, persistence, and absolute discipline when it came to training and competing.

I have followed the 'tour'. I followed it again this year and its unbelievably tough. I live on the same mountains these guys cycle up. I regularly have to drive 8 mile climbs in second gear and that's in a car for christ sake.
Lance may well of doped but he wasn't alone. Every guy that stood on that podium was under some 'code of silence' It was a fairly mutual supportive group but when one talked they were all stuffed.

The saddest thing isn't that he did this, which I'm sure he did, but the continual witch hunt to bring him to ground and dig him out. Lets be assured that those who went on this witch hunt won't have achieved anything like as much as he has.

Le plus dur, c'est pas d'arriver au sommet, c'est d'y etre.

I'm not saying all the top athletes are doping, but you are idiotic (thanks for that) if you think these people are still innocent. Without a shadow of a doubt, cycling has been outed as the most corrupt sport there currently is. It is a big money industry, hence the ability of those involved to create such an elaborate scheme of doping.

Sadly its massively commercial now and being commercial makes it an unclean sport. A cycle team like the US postal team are no more than a marketing team of a large organization. The pressure put on these athletes to win is huge. Their livelihood is reliant on them winning races. Basically if they don't win their wages stop.
