Public only. It worked out great and neither of us would have done it any differently.

We met a wonderful girl just recently from this very site---(you know who you are wink).

For her piece of mind and safety, (she said that she wasn't out and didn't have a friend who knew about the life), was insisted she make a new email account and put the password in a letter saying that she was going to visit with us.

She also was supposed to have two greetings when her nilla friend called her 15 minutes and 45 minutes into the date. So "hi random girls name, thanks for calling everything is fine means everything is fine. Hey _____,thanks for calling everything is fine means open the letter go to the email and :

1) As soon as we sat down she took pics of our drivers licensees on her cell phone and sent them.
2) We also had her take a pic of our car
3) A pic of us together... (taken by a nice lady at the coffee shop --(not starbucks cause we are rebels like that).

If I could have thought of anything else I would have included it. (she was supposed to have safe texts to send, but she didn't)

My point is that she was very new, and yes we are great people but its our job to make sure that she learns smart practices.

Michael...

The last new person I met that wasn't at a munch, we had talked online and phone and WANTED to meet.
She had to get groceries for her lil one and I suggested I meet her at Food City.
We went thru the whole store, got groceries and talked.

Back in the day, did the grocery store thing once, too. And the diner. Was stupid enough to let one guy meet at my house. I was lucky, he was just an asshole, not a violent or abusive one. ;o)

Once I met at a bar. I had half a drink and ran out the back door because he was planning on moving in with me right then and there even though I had spoke to the guy maybe twice online. The other times were at a coffee shop. I only had someone come to my home once which was complete stupidity. That lasted about 5 minutes and told him I just wasn't into him. He left pretty angry. I was just glad he never tried to stalk me or come back.

That's why I found him irresistible! It was the intoxication of the smell of coffee.

I like to build up to it. Email / telephone / Public restrauant (national chain) ... not all that fancy.
I have tried to follow protocols after that meeting to maybe more meetings or walk in the park (people neaby). I need her to be comfortable before we do much.
That said:
I had one occassion that cost me a beautiful lady because I advanced too slow.
I had one occassion we fooled around a bit in the park at night. Yes - plenty of people were nearby.
I had one that we went straight to her place immediately after. That lady some months later asked me to train her adult daughter. It didn't happen for a variety of reasons.
My best result was dinner then D/s event then her choice to stop at a motel returning her to her car. We became an item for over a year including BDSM trips to other cities.

I like to pick either the bar that I go to regularly and am known or the coffee shop up the street that the SWAT/staties/firemen/cops hang out.

Tell your teddy bear he's still scary LOL

I'll stick with my polarbear that i bought in a charity shop today.

The only scary bit is when my new friend turns up and insists on the bed space.. at that point 4 foot polar bear will prob end up on the floor. (or maybe not) LOL

I always meet at a public place first.

I live in New Jersey. A diner just about every half mile on any main highway. Perfect for a first meet.

My first meet was in a Starbucks. He promptly slapped down a notebook and proceeded to tell me where I lived, where I worked, what car I drove, all about my husband and kids, who my parents were........he doesn't own a computer security company for nothing! He took me to a jewellry store (I was looking for a gift), and we ended up back at his place. Intended just to talk openly, which you can't do in a coffee house. Things went wayyyyy beyond.

He has become a very dear friend.

And no, I didn't have a safe call. He gave me a lecture on that one, lol.
