Status: offline 		I love Disney flicks. I still cry when Bambi's mother get shot. How to tame you dragon has been turned into an animated series this fall. I can't wait.

My girl loves all things disney, especially if it a princess! (go figure lol).

I am hoping that we can take the kids to Disneyland next summer. I am the only one in the family who has been. I can't wait to take them on the ride that sparked Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion. It has been 35 years, but I still remember those two rides vividly! My boy, who will be 15 next summer, is even looking forward to it, for the older kids stuff. But also because as much as they fight, my kids do truly love each other, and he loves seeing his sister laugh.

As for their futures....my kids can be anything they want to be, except POTUS, because we are Canadian. What? A normal middle class girl can't grow up and marry a prince? Tell that to Katherine Middleton, future Queen of England!

Status: offline 		Lion King 2 was made because after the death of scar those that followed him were out cast and the pride wasnt 'one' its romeo and juliet in disney for crying out loud its adorable!!

Aww your so lucky to go there, I plan on going some day :) aw your son is just about a year younger then my brother thats so cute! Whats POTUS :S hehe LONG LIVE KATIE!!!! now if the queen would only pop it and charles too until she takes the throne...then all of britain will be as stylish as her by royal decree!!

I re read this thread.....dafuq are some people on!!! A little bit of happiness comes along and its bitchy session at the ready >:( grrrr I wish I had a laser gun like jamba in lilo and stitch and vaporise them all!

Fortunately, it will be over in two weeks, and I can get some decent news that doesn't involve Obama, Romney or horses and bayonettes.

Status: offline 		The Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Anderson, etc etc wrote some horror stories which parents used to scare kids into behaving, they are some damn fine fantasy/horror for their time.
Disney sanitised them. Being Brought up in the UK, going to a fantasy world like Disney...was a dream. Ill get there one day... but im not blind to their " mangement model"
I like both versions. Light and dark, both had morals, both had bad points,
I have the movies up to pocahontas, along side my hoards of horror, fantasy, true crime and sci fi books.. and feel the same about all of them, theres good and bad if you wanna look deep enough.
To each his own. I have different "needs" as Im sure most people do, depending on mood.
Jungle book was another one I loved.
I stopped taking much notice after Pocahontas cos my own kids were past the disney stage and I got into Computers.
Now THERE is a double edged sword!!!!

Status: offline 		I studied some of those stories and depicted them through modern film...they turned out so messed it up it was brilliant!
I think your right about the mood aspect, when Im mad I watch saw and hostel, when Im sad I watch disney, when Im happy I generally watch anything lol

I never did understand that saying, whats a double edged sword

thought of "Disney cartoon movie" Aladdin
would have to be clost to the top of the list.

Status: offline 		If you want the horror version of fairy tales, you should check out Grimm, now in its second season.

One of my favorite movies when I was little was called Song of the South. Also known as Uncle Remus. Don't know who made it, but it was banned due to severe rascism. Zip-a-dee-do-dah was one of the best songs.

The snake in Robin Hood, The crows in Dumbo, the mice in Cinderella, Dopey in Snow White, Genie, Iago from Aladdin, Sebastian from Little Mermaid and the Mufasa and Rowan Atkinson in Lion King:) all have smiley places in my soul.
