I think he gave up civility when the teabaggers rebuffed every civil overture he has made to them, and shit all over him and the American people.

Sure.

I just read an interesting article, in which the premise is that the progressive wing of US politics has retreated from any kind of real desire to discuss issues, or negotiate to achieve their goals.

Instead, they have retreated to snark and the demonizing of anyone who disagrees with them. The further to the left, the stronger this inclination.

Since Obama was rated as "the most liberal" senator, I've seen nothing in this campaign that discounts the article's thesis and plenty to support it.

Well, Firm it isn't interesting at all really, it is a right wing regressive's bad breath blowing back in his face.  You see they have retreated from any kind of real desire to discuss issues, or negotiate to achieve their goals.

Instead, they have retreated to snark and the demonizing of anyone who disagrees with them. The further to the rabid right, the stronger this imbecility.

According to the progressives here, the rest of the world loves us because of Obama.

Now here's the truth... These floats were part of the annual Carnival Parade in Germany

You don't know much about the political part of German carnival, do you?

The float shown above is indeed quite benevolent measured by the standards that apply to the occasion.
It is a humorous caricature without any true bite. How a rather well like politician would be treated.

Maybe do your research first before spouting bullshit.
