I don't see why it's suddenly time for conservatives to make the Presidential retard look good after the miserable performance of his first term.

Um, because the majority of this country that voted expressed support for him, perhaps? You ARE aware that there are other people and opinions in this country and perhaps they might be indulged every so often?

The "Latino" vote is temporary, in general the Latin Americas are culturally far more conservative in many ways, especially socially.

The GOP was very unwise, in my opinion, to make as many hostile and bigoted proclamations both individually and collectively as have been made over the last 20 years.

The GOP could easily seize the "Latino" vote, they appear to have done so in certain places in the United States, already.

Interesting idea that the GOP could get the Latino vote.

But keep in mind that the entire concept is based on the Hispanics being a homogeneous bloc. Not true - the Cuban-Americans are solidly GOP, while the rest are solidly Dem.

Two other thoughts:

1. Obama won, but Nate Silver won bigger. His Presidential predictions were spot on, and improved from 2008.

2. We're gonna have to DO something about Florida. They seem incapable of holding a proper election without a recount. Thank God that Florida wasn't the deciding state.

You seem a tad upset the nation didnt agree with your right wing bullshit.

Let him spout off a little more.. it wakes people like me up to hear that part of the party talking like that. Each attack makes me that less willing to part with cash for the people running for office. Lord and Lady know it's made me read up on these ass hats and stop being just a R or a D and voting a party line.

Politesub53 -> RE: Post election thoughts. (11/7/2012 3:43:10 AM)

The American people, thankfully, didnt approve of candidate so far to the right.

The Republicans needs to take note of Tony Blair and the Labour partys 1997 election, a truly far left party would never have won, so he moved to the centre. I think the majority of people want politicians that are neither too left leaning OR to right leaning.

chainedandgagged -> RE: Post election thoughts. (11/7/2012 3:47:07 AM)

so let me get this straight? you dont like freedom to abstain or participate in religion? YOu dont want to own property? you want the right to speak against to be illegal?
the bear to bear to gone?
You dont even what far right....The republican est. certainly doesnt.

JanahX -> RE: Post election thoughts. (11/7/2012 3:48:50 AM)

Is it me - or is this in some language only known to him? I have no idea what this dood just said. At all.

Well ... if anything, it was a stellar first post. Nicely done.

chainedandgagged -> RE: Post election thoughts. (11/7/2012 3:56:24 AM)

Far right mean strict interpretation of the constitution. all those rights, you posess? the right own land, freedom of religion, freedom of assembly, right to bear arms ?????? are now in jeopardy. Much less the right to live. Question When does pro choice ever include the right to choose to live? It doesnt. So now your right live is in the hands of beauracrats. hope you are not approaching and have to go to the hospital....might be time for the gvt to pull the plug.

SilverMark -> RE: Post election thoughts. (11/7/2012 4:04:39 AM)

The comments of those who choose to insult the winner aside, think about what happened last night.

5 out of the 6 last Presidential elections the Republicans have lost the popular vote, they had the perfect opportunity to defeat a sitting President, and they LOST.

As opposed to the insults of those who do little more than hate, take a look at not only the demographics, what is it that they are doing to lose?

When they are too busy trying to force their Social Beliefs on the population, the Democrats win! Until they quit worshiping at the alter of Rush Limbaugh, championing the views of Michelle Bachman, listening to Ralph Reed, they'll keep losing.

This was simple, Romney was a weak candidate overall, but the other choices were so much worse, and the others wished to preach Religion, anti abortion, prayer, suppression of voters, and issues that simply put, most people do not care about!

Obama beat Romney, he would have SMOKED Santorum, Bachman, or any of the other clowns....Americans don't want to be told that there is one religion, that there is one answer to social issues, that hate is better than acceptance of different views, Gay people are the same as straight, those who are different share the same rights as the Old White Men....Sooner or later they'll "get it"....until then, we'll get the hate spewers like SD and others who are really just poor losers, blaming the man who won for doing nothing more than winning!

subspaceseven -> RE: Post election thoughts. (11/7/2012 4:15:21 AM)

It's not just the Latinos, even women in Iowa did not support the GOP ticket, they have pushed both groups off their agenda, and supported the likes of Akin, and Walsh and most of the teabaggers who lost.

It's time for the GOP to learn that you can't run on fear, you can't push people aside and make them feel meaningless, and believe they will still vote for you.

And losing by over 100 elector votes is not a close race, he lost Wisconsin FFS, and Iowa, and well no need to go over the

Now this, I can understand.

I am in the UK, and quite frankly your remarks are bullshit. None of what you say has happened here under a left leaning government. None of it, not once, not ever...... I have always voted for the right, so my remarks cant be seen as biased.

As for pro choice..... you dont get it do you. Its about the right for a woman to make her choice. Odd you spout on about choice and yet wish to deny women the right to chose.

Let another 4 years go by without immigration being addressed and see what happens to that vote. Im not saying they will vote for a Republican... I have a feeling they will simply stay home.

No ,they won't.Not if embedded withing the Republican plank, and their party DNA,is an anti-immigration stance. If the Republican party once again clings to their bedrock principal of "no path to citizenship" for those millions here illegal the Latino community will vote once again Democratic.
Now you have a cycle ,folks who study this stuff will tell you that if a young person votes for any particular party two and than three times in a row...they are likely to stay with that party for the rest of their voting lives
Party loyalty sets in

By the way,and I do hope I am the first to say this......Last night,this election....All Bushs fault,blame Bush,he owns it.....lol

Perhaps you need to stop watching Fox news, it was the far right pushing their religious beliefs on everybody, they where the ones whining about sharia law, Obama is/was Muslim,

How in any way has Obama stopped your right to free speech,, All they gop has is fear and you just keep spewing their BS

How is the right to bear arms gone???? the only people spewing that BS are the very people making money off the fools who believe it, gun sales and ammo sales have never been higher..cause people like you believe their guns rights are being taken away...show me the laws that have done that??????Actually Obama has passed laws giving you more freedom, laws that Bush refused to sign

Translation:

By reelecting Obama, you are voting against the freedom to abstain or participate in religion, the right to own property, and the right of free speech. You also voted against the right to bear arms. You don;t even know what far right is - the Republican establishment certainly doesn't.

Uh WRONG. Living here in Houston - where 43.8% are hispanic, I can honestly tell you, they do not relate to rich, white, conservative men. Not even close.

I speak with many online, and Texas is not all of the United States.

But the folks you speak to on-line is "all of the United States" ?
Party branding is taking place, when a young man votes Democratic at 24 he is much more likely to vote Democratic at 54

I'm so glad President Obama won. No more worries about welcoming back pre-existing conditions and lifetime limits! Hopefully he will get to appoint a couple of Supreme Court Justices.

And therein lies the prize...one more, maybe two.But the first one probably won't change the make-up of the court
Ginsberg will probably step down,Obama appointing a successor for her just keeps the status quo

You have never listened to rush. The reason republicans lose, the reason obama won are exactly the same. OBAMA GOT HIS BASE, the communist party out to vote.
The republican The far right, stayed home. OBAMA DIDNT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT HIS SECOND TERM. Was never challenged about it, benghazi was a non issue, he never made one concession about changing the his tone......That gets the base out......big.
AS opposed to romney, who after 8 years and absolutely no cooperation from the democrat party, are still talking about working with democrats. Locked out of every bit of power for 2 years and still talking about reaching across...
I am not taking away from obama. He got out his base. and he did not conceding one thing. leaving him free to say he never lied to anybody....Brilliant.
The republican party as whole has no idea how to win even though the argument are theirs to win.

SilverMark -> RE: Post election thoughts. (11/7/2012 5:09:39 AM)

chained, I disagree in many ways, yes, the base came out and the ground game was strong, but it takes more than the base, more than the practical aspects of electioneering. The largest fundamental differences in the choice of candidates through the Republican Party was, who is the least objectionable, not who was best qualified. Romney had to suck up to the far right, he had to say the 47% BS, he had to retract his stance on abortion that he had held while governor of Mass, he had to disagree with a program he, himself helped develop, he couldn't be a moderate or a centrist because of who made up the party he was representing. The largest differences in Mitt the Governor, and Mitt the Presidential candidate were the social issues.

The Republicans will not win a Presidential election on social issues, they need to move to the center....stay out of religion, stay out of the people's bedroom, don't tell us what to believe, or that the public's beliefs are somehow not as good as those of the Republican's candidates.

Yes, I am a Democrat, a liberal, a progressive....that makes me on par in most of my beliefs with such people as Barry Goldwater, Dwight Eisenhower and Richard Nixon....amazing stuff...
