I screwed it up.
answer the following question:
do you want the constitution to be whatever somebody says it is?

For over 2 centuries, the Constitution has been what 7 people said it was. The SCOTUS has determined that.
When it needed to be changed, "We The People" changed it.

you didnt answer the question you just gave the most pc a.k.a non truthful answer you could swallow.

Wow ChainedandGagged - every time you post, you manage to sound less and less intelligent -and thats really saying something, especially coming off of your first stellar post. Ive seen a lot of circle jerking around here - but you have taken it to a whole new art form. BRAVO!!!

You have never listened to rush. The reason republicans lose, the reason obama won are exactly the same. OBAMA GOT HIS BASE, the communist party out to vote.
The republican The far right, stayed home. OBAMA DIDNT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT HIS SECOND TERM. Was never challenged about it, benghazi was a non issue, he never made one concession about changing the his tone......That gets the base out......big.
AS opposed to romney, who after 8 years and absolutely no cooperation from the democrat party, are still talking about working with democrats. Locked out of every bit of power for 2 years and still talking about reaching across...
I am not taking away from obama. He got out his base. and he did not conceding one thing. leaving him free to say he never lied to anybody....Brilliant.
The republican party as whole has no idea how to win even though the argument are theirs to win.

It's been done before. Nixon could not square the idea that the nation did not agree with him because all his friends did. So he created the concept of the Silent Majority, the people who never voted and never spoke to pollsters, who nonetheless needed him to represent them.

Delusional.

They elected nixon and reagan in 4 landslides. talk about delusional.

chainedandgagged -> RE: Post election thoughts. (11/7/2012 6:14:37 AM)

nothing jerking anybody chains....its just facts. thats why nobody actually disputes, just insults.
the democrat party is genius......they say nothing and get elected. and when they do say, the republican hide from, play defense, without the slightest notion of how to win.

mnottertail -> RE: Post election thoughts. (11/7/2012 6:14:46 AM)

OH, that is a very truthful answer. But that number over our years has been anywhere from 6 to 9 justices on the Supreme Court, and that number is set by congress.

Yachtie -> RE: Post election thoughts. (11/7/2012 6:15:54 AM)

fr

Romney's loss signals either a quantum political shift to the left for the Right or future irrelevance. Obama is now free to pursue whatever his goals are, mitigated of course by Congress. Ultimately I do not believe it matters as, and yes many disagree here, the math simply does not allow for what the left desires. Hell, it doesn't allow for what the right desires either but that is now moot for all practical purposes.

It's a done deal. I hope people will be satisfied with the results yet to be seen.

I answered the question perfectly with a REAL WORLD example and how the country has been run for centuries and how it will, God Willing, be run for more centuries to come.

What I did not do is answer with the ravings of a madman who is drunk on RW kool-aid and typing such drunken/insane rantings as "the bear to bear to gone? "

I'm about the least PC SOB you'll find on here. I also have a low tolerance for people who let others do their thinking for them.

The latter is why we have 4 more years of "Hopey Changey".

As it said in a post last night. The Republicans have met the enemy...and it is them.

Until they can get rid of the Bible Beaters and ignorant TEA baggers and find some statesmen who will do what a Republican is supposed to do instead of being a corporate whore, it's gonna be the same old shit for decades.

First, Kudos to Romney for his concession speech. I thought it was well delivered, honest and straight forward. To bad that wasnt the man I saw during the campaign.

Second.. Kudos to the GOP crowd. With just a couple of exceptions, the absence of boos and cat calls upon hearing Romney say he called the President spoke well for the crowd.

Little has changed.

Obama is still President.

The House still Conservative.

The Senate still Democratic.

That says many things to me.

One... the people didnt buy all the hype and lies, from both sides of the isle. It came from all sides, and, frankly, it was embarrassing at times. Lets not go into who said what, just agree that both sides did and move on.

Two... The people are not ready to give either party full control of the government... and I dont blame them. Its time both parties started working together. Until they do, I dont se ethis trend changing much. I, for one.. just one lone vote... dont really trust either party completely. And I love the fact that there are these checks and balances in place.

Three.... I have a sneaking feeling that the midterms will be a feeding frenzy next round. It all depends on how well our elected officials can get along. I look to men like Christie to make a subtle change in how he deals with both parties.

Four... Obama squeaked by... not so much because of who he is.. but who he ran against. Romney was feared by women and the minority vote. Something the GOP may want to keep in mind next time. That doesnt give Obama a pass. He needs to deliver on his promises this time around. Else I see the WH going definitely Republican next time.

The people spoke tonight. No one can say this was a black vote... no one can claim this was a white vote. This wasnt a party vote... too many states went one party in the local and Congress and the other in Presidency.

Its time we actually started working together for better ideas and solutions instead of nit picking each other to pieces for that all mighty vote. The American people are not so easily fooled anymore.

The message, in my eyes, tonight was...

Work it the fuck out.

Very well said...thinking back to when we were supposed to learn how to get along and play nice in the sandbox...simple, but true.

once again history says thats not true....check out 2010. They beat the democrats soundly on everything I have said wins.........nobody wants to be taxed more..nobody...nobody wants gvt telling which doctor they can visit.
We agree on the republicans being the problem, but not cure.

TEAbaggers were new in 2010. They gave people hope (like something else was new in 2008 after 8 years of ineptitude)
The newness wore off pretty quickly as 10 of them were booted last night and the queen of TEA won by the skin of her teeth.
Again. When you send ignorant idealogues to congress, it doesn't help your cause.

How can someone who doesn't write sentences claim to be a Constitutional scholar?

Nixon's resignation(Watergate) and Ford's pardon(Watergate) allowed for Carter, not the way Nixon goverened nor the way he campaigned....you must have missed that part in your history?

Nixon had a record to judge and won in a landslide the second time around, yet he was one of the first to discuss such things as national healthcare....He stayed out of peoples bedrooms, he wasn't sucking up to religion, he wasn't even that devoutly religious. (A non devout Quaker at that).....

He disliked the media, but had a great surrogate(mostly his own fault, the checkers speech and all) in Agnew to speak what the average old white guy was thinking, he didn't have to go there.

Law and order was something both parties were interested in at the time, along with ending the Viet Nam war, he was no where near batshit crazy right wing idiot. He was pragmatic, devious and capable...and he won elections through those virtues and faults.

He couldn't get elected in a primary today, neither could Eisenhower or even Goldwater...

How many democrats lost last night? you didnt 25 in the house. all communist that lost.

mnottertail -> RE: Post election thoughts. (11/7/2012 6:28:10 AM)

OK, my neck of the woods:

The same sex amendment prohibition takes a dive.  good.
The voter id is still wobbly, but looks like it takes a dive. good.
Democrats own Minnesota government.  good.

Fucking bitch voting for wallstreet bailout Klobuchar is still senator.  bad.

Bachmann isn't overwhelmingly voted in, just slightly, with one of the largest national warchests provided by republicans (and their warchests are gonna shrink grandly after this other than corporate hiding monies). But the twatwaffle is still there. medium to bad.

Eliason (the muslim member of congress) stomps the dogshit out of his opponent and carries on.  good.

The GOP will now have another round of much vaunted little nothing of a  has-beens to run for president like Brown and West to lose next election.  good.

I don't think the GOP will get it.  bad.

Hillwilliam -> RE: Post election thoughts. (11/7/2012 6:28:24 AM)

The Democrats picked up seats in both houses.

No one elected nixon or raygun...the electoral college appoints the president and vp. Most people who have had 6th grade civics know this.
