The voters have spoken. Until the Republicans purge themselves of the nitwits who would limit a woman's freedom and liberty, they're never going to be taken seriously.

Pandering to the religious extremists has destroyed the Republican party. I don't see any way to recover other than getting rid of the nuts.

How many clear mandates does he have and are you going to start a new thread about every one, or did you just start this one because everyone ignored the one you started last night?

Mandate? I thought Romney won the popular vote. Obama won the electorial count. I would interpret this to mean more PEOPLE didn't want Obama.

flyhumbleguy -> RE: Given the results in the house, Obama has a clear mandate.... (11/7/2012 11:18:24 AM)

Not remotely a mandate.

captive4ever -> RE: Given the results in the house, Obama has a clear mandate.... (11/7/2012 11:22:04 AM)

With still some votes to be counted, Obama has more than 2.5 million more votes than Romney. No, he won the electoral college AND the popular vote.

It's a shame you lack a passion for accuracy or the truth. Obama won both the popular and electoral vote.

Not remotely correct. Look it up.

Even though the margins of victory are fairly substantial, with a Republican controlled House, it can hardly be called a Mandate.

subspaceseven -> RE: Given the results in the house, Obama has a clear mandate.... (11/7/2012 11:47:02 AM)

Well of course you would think that....that is what Fox told you...the hell with facts..live in the realm of BS, and then whine when your party loses

farglebargle -> RE: Given the results in the house, Obama has a clear mandate.... (11/7/2012 11:51:24 AM)

Lost 7 seats this election. How many more in the mid-terms. I mean. Go ahead. Keep "Making Obama a one-term president" and see if you can lose the majority in 2 years.

Keep pandering to the religious nuts in the Primaries, and you find you can't walk back the crazy-talk. Then you're tagged forever as being a nut, too.

Accept the count isn`t in and the President looks like he`ll take the popular vote as well....

Not that democracy has any meaning to republicans anyway....

I was thinkin old Willard was lookin like he was gonna have to change his name to Trayvon or at least Rodney (Lionel Ritchie if it suits you better).

Politesub53 -> RE: Given the results in the house, Obama has a clear mandate.... (11/7/2012 3:48:22 PM)

I think in many respects Obama has been given a mandate. Despite a poor economy, which I dont see as his making, he still got elected. The electorate turned their backs on the GOP policies in sufficient numbers to keep the President in office. Romneys flip flopping on several issues didnt go down well enough to get him the votes he needed.

It`s democracy at its finest. In the UK the Conservatives got the same response in 1997 as did New Labour in 2009. lesson being, dont take the electorate for fools.

DomKen -> RE: Given the results in the house, Obama has a clear mandate.... (11/7/2012 3:53:09 PM)

FR

Obama definitely has a huge mandate to do anything he wants, by the GOP's own standard.

In 2004 W won the popular vote and the EC by far less than Obama did this year but his party felt they had a mandate to privatize Social Secuirty. So by that standard Obama can do pretty much anything he wants.

What's worse...for the Democrats....is, the Republicans get the fact that they have no choice but to focus on taking care of their own and they have only limited years within which to do so.

The Democrats are simply going to wait for the govt. to solve their issues.

Republicans know better, and are working to take care of THEIR issues, because as of Nov 6th, they got tired of trying to help you resolve yours.

tazzygirl -> RE: Given the results in the house, Obama has a clear mandate.... (11/7/2012 5:52:07 PM)

Uh huh.... they reallyw anted to help resolve issues... for themselves.

Get rid of healthcare reform because they cant afford the extra 14 cents per pizza.

Give themselves tax breaks even though they admit trickle down doesnt work.

Cut medicaid and food stamps, then tell women.. if you get knocked up.. MY daughter can afford a D&C, but you cant have an abortions.

Oh yes, they are definitely taking care of their own.. and have been for a long time.

SilverMark -> RE: Given the results in the house, Obama has a clear mandate.... (11/7/2012 6:04:26 PM)

Nook, do you think the Republicans have the market cornered on success and self reliance?.... REALLY?

If that is your contention you have your head buried so far up your ass you will need surgery to extract it!

Just admit that you backed the wrong horse, and go on, it happens...I once voted for Al FREAKING Gore because I disliked W

so much that it almost made me ill. The Republicans as a group have HUGE issues to solve within their ranks, and have no idea

how to get the Whitehouse because they have to have the Michelle Bachman's within their ranks to keep the religious nuts voting!

Maybe the Republicans will have the balls to run Christie next time....now there is a Republican that has something worth backing!

Mitt was simply a seat filler, it was his turn, just like McCain the last time.

Ummmm ... there weren't enough congressional seats in play to give you what your imagination tells you is a "mandate".
However, I sat in on the faculty round table this morning and there was not a soul present who didn't think this was actually a very significant mandate toward the Tea Party. Is it the end? Nope. But if they do not embrace a more bipartisan stance. Next general election won't be pretty at all.

Oh get over yourself...tired of trying?????
LMAO really , thats what you are going for??
They LOST
LARGE
That they will do nothing to "try" anything but obstruction is more than obvious.
Despite all the hope that they will work together with dems.
I dont see it for a minute.
I have zero faith in them.
Christie..may, because well hes a smart dude. I see him getting further, or blown out by his own party.
BTW I agree with Mark...you are dividing repubs and dems by the amount of success they achieve?
how arrogant and ridiculous.
Try feeling better about yourself, because it aint working on the rest of us.
Im back to "work" now, bye
