Just wanted to comment some common misunderstanding of Americans concernig socialism. First, you've never experienced socialism, not even with FDR, so you have such misconceptions that one can't know where to begin. Nazism wasn't even a special branch of it as someone said, the word socialism in its name was just a lie. The Nazi party was a perfect blend of capitalism -see the association with the Krupps for instance- and nationalism, nothign to do with socialism. Obama isn't a socialist, just a left wing capitalist. Socialism can be good -like in Sweden or Britain in the 60's- or not so good like in Cuba. There's even something in the middle like Germany's social market economy. In America there's more risk of a soft kind of nazism if the extreme right in the Republican party gets stronger than of any sort of socialism. Believe me.

What is the problem with socialism in cuba as you see it?

That it's not working?

Would you have any validation for this opinion?

No, I suspect, even for you, the newspapers, their continuing and declining GDP, the fact that to get an air filter for a car (which is the newest they have) for a 1964 Belvedere costs about 100 bucks....I think that ought to be a reasonable starting point.

Your post seems to be long on opinion but rather short on facts.

Who cares now? So long as he stays alive Obama has 4 years as president. The first two will be do nothing years and the last two will depend on the next election. The Republican house will fight him every inch of the way if history repeats. He can make executive determination but those can be reversed by the next president.

From a purely political stand point the Democratic party would have been better had Romney won. He would have accomplished nothing and then the would have gotten the white house back for eight years. As it stands, without a major change in the economy and employment, Republicans will have the presidency in 2016 and possibly both chambers of Congress.

Good luck to the country. You know the politicians will take care of their interests first and then that of the citizens. Does anyone actually expect them to vote to increase their own taxes?

What I find interesting is that this screed is still on line several days after the ass-whupping. I will be charitable (why?) and assume that they are in such shock that they haven't gotten around to tidying up yet...

It's STILL up.
