Do these states realize that even if they could secede, they would have to pay off their tabs first?

mnottertail -> RE: Obamaphobe "secession" & "armed rebellion" movements (11/13/2012 11:13:26 AM)

Pure asswipe, SS was COUNTED in the budget starting with LBJ, but it has always been in the Social Security Trust fund, and always (by allowance  of law) been robbed one way or another.

I don't know what word you are using, but it is not inevitable, the ones wanting to suceed owe the US the most money, and they will pay it back or be nuked.

Certainly, petitions to secede are ridiculous since they won't be granted, but what most people don't understand is that secession from the federal government is inevideable. The unfunded liabilites are about $50 trillion & it all started when LBJ transferred social security to the general fund & started spending on it. On top of using SS as a piggy bank, they have now borrowed $16 trillion. There is no possible way to fund future liabilities. Even if you took all the money the top 5% have, it wouldn't last but 5 years.

It's inevideable that secession must occur since they refuse to balance the budget and declare bankruptcy or limit the size of the federal government & future entitlements. It's absolutely impossible. It's just a question of how fast will it occur. I predict it will happen within the next 4 years & red state Governors & their legislators will begin making preparations to secede together so they can set up a seperate financial system & rewrite the Constitution to where the feds answer to the states & they have no law making ability or taxing ability.

Agreed, it is inevitable. Though reasons go beyond economics. In the end it will probably be peaceful for the most part; not civil war redux.

Sure, you can go... pay your tab on your way out.

It was peaceful the last time, and would have stayed peaceful had they paid their tabs and given back any federal reservations, they didn't and it wasn't.

The same thing will be true this time, only we will nuke the south out of existence this time, since they are a pain in the ass and a drag on the economy.

LaTigresse -> RE: Obamaphobe "secession" & "armed rebellion" movements (11/13/2012 11:18:40 AM)

Yay...........then the US will have ANOTHER poor neighbour that comes running with it's hand out, when shit goes wrong.

Not long ago I saw a great map of red states versus blue states, and where the bulk of industry aka MONEY, was. Let's just say..........it wouldn't be the blue states hurting.

They did.

Yeah. When I read it in the news this morning.......I shook my head and laughed.

I really do wonder at the IQ differences sometimes.

Armchair chickenhawks, while positing that they, will take and we will not take back.   Motherfuckers think there exist no warhawks on the liberal side.  I can assure you that they have fought the wars, that the conservatives got us into.

tazzy I think you are right...I hope you are right... But you just never know.

Political rhetoric has so inflamed parts of America that a movement, like the Tea Party…of the Tea party nutcases…could take a life of its own.

I do not believe it could bloom into revolution but it could incite violence. If I were the powers that be I would watch carefully and take seriously rumblings such as this. I would also suggest to the Republican party leadership that they comment on the movement and show their disdain for this way of thinking.

Not to mention the mass exodus from such a state. Imagine, being out there all alone... which in effect they would be unless they get support from a foreign country to sponsor them.

Then we have to discuss the power grids. The oil supplies. The shipping lanes and interstates....

Then their own banking system, their own money supply, their own military.... ect ect ect

lol

Its a nice pipe dream they have.

LaTigresse -> RE: Obamaphobe "secession" & "armed rebellion" movements (11/13/2012 11:34:03 AM)

Indeed, when you really start looking at the facts........it is comical.

It's like their hero Clint Eastwood.

I mean, seriously... the SC ruled that a state can secede but only by mutual agreement, if I remember correctly. Its not going to happen.
