Owner, did you read my post? POST #67 I am going to try hard, not to type the same words over and over on the internet. I am going to start referencing prior posts when trying to discuss issues. If anyone wants to chat about what I said in post #67,let me know. I don't think anyone dislikes corporations/and most of what they stand for more than I do. There IS such a thing as throwing the baby out with the bathwater. I have talked about this for YEARS/as well as unbridled outsourcing. I need you to address, what is going to happen to these 18,000 people? Are they to eat cake? At what point do we discuss what happens to these people. What are they supposed to live off of? Is anyone here going to support those 18,000 people and their families or give them their next job? I need someone here that SUPPORTS what happened to these people to tell me specifically what they should do NOW.

Hold on a minute sport... The Company was functioning and under the Federal Bankruptcy rules a CBA was put in place. A CBA mind you that was accepted by 7,000 members of the Teamsters UNION. Had The Bakers not stuck, those 18,500 people would still be employed.

Actually, from a few sources I have read, and I will try and find one if you wish, there is an argument that a few companies are poised to come in and take over. Having trained people will be the best way to restart a company. As far as what they are going to do now, many are eligible for unemployment... but not all. Seems they also had a 401K plan, but the accounts seem to be in question.

If a company's sales go south, in Hostess's case, or the company does something illegal and gets fined billions, like a Fortune 500 company I used to work for, the shareholders and upper management will not allow themselves to lose income. Instead, they make up the difference by laying people off, expecting the remaining employees to do 2x the work at 80% the pay, all while raising prices for customers. Everybody has to pay for upper management's mistakes.... except for upper management. [>:]

No one said all, Marini. The employees knew this going into the strike. Even in the eleventh hour, when they gave in and agreed to the companies demands, they were told ... too late. None of this sounds like the owners wanted to work out a deal.

Plus, they will lose any seniority they had had AND likely start out at lower wages with less benefits than if they had stayed at Hostess. Plus, many of the lines will disappear all together. Sorry tazzy, I have to disagree with you today. According to many articles, and there are thousands on the internet, I am also blaming the Unions. According to this article in the NY Times, as late as September the Bakers Union had the nerve to stop returning phone calls. NY Times/Hostess turns out the lights forever tazzy, I am really cutting back on endless links because there are billions of links on the internet and I could spend the rest of my life posting links to message boards. I have read enough to BLAME both sides , BUT I personally BLAME the unions MORE, as I detailed in Post #67. I think the workers should have returned back to work last month, and continued negotiations. These people have been screwed by the Corporations and the Union, and many of these people will suffer. IN THIS crappy economy being fired is not going to keep the heat on, keep a roof over their heads, nor buy groceries. Peace
