I think we are veering off topic, if she decides to go buy panties, she should not cross the picket lines at WalMart on Friday.

I bet we don't see many on strike on Friday, we will probably only see a line of people camped out waiting to go in the store.

I find it hard to believe how Americans have let retail store mar the one holiday that is supposed to be all about family.
How many of you now figure standing on a line all night into your holiday planning ?
I did it one year,and swore,no matter the sales that I would never again do it....than my niece came down for Thanksgiving last year,,,and just had to go shopping after dinner.
Of course by "shopping" she meant standing in line for hours with other like minded idiots.....I being the uncle that will walk her down the aisle(when the time comes) schleppped along and froze my ass off.

Tips only add up when you are waiting on a full room,I myself have spent more than a few mid-week nights looking at a room full of empty tables.
On nights like those the Walmart employee was certainly doing far better than I.

Status: offline 		And look up Ala trade and food land they pay minimum wage to their poultry producers and they wrap and sell to Wal Mart. And they pay Health care Insurance that takes almost half their check. My job just barely over 10.50 for a poultry plant and we also get health care and it takes a good chunk out of my pay check every week and yes mine is also going up too January. So by the time its said and done we will only be taking home 7.50 an hour AFTER health Care.

A good friend works in a nursing home.
CNA's. Minimum wage, no particular holidays or weekends off (face it, old folks need care every day). No bennies.

For that, you get to deal with poopy diapers, wet beds, bathing, people with dementia etc, etc, etc.
I'm not saying these folks at WallyWorld don't have a point but there are a HELL of a lot of folks who have it a lot worse in the workplace and they need to stop thinking they're some kind of special flower or something.

They're benefitting from Workfare pretty much the same as companies like Bosch, Siemens, Mercedes did in 1930's Nazi Germany on schemes which were pretty much the same - forced menial labour for the 'untermenschen'.

Part of me wouldn't be surprised if they started selling socks made out of human hair...

.. nor would it surprise me if people bought such socks either.

What a shitty deal....to have an option, with govt. funding to obtain gainful employment (by the way...and I can't speak for the UK, but this offer is made in the United States for all employees who have more than 60 weeks of unemployment, a derivative of it is offered for disabled, as well as incoming/homecoming Veterans...it's kind of a cool thing...and an incentive for companies that may not hire anyone....but with a "credit", these folks have a shot at a job).

Horrible stuff....yeah.
