Lets see how long this one lasts.

JERUSALEM — A cease-fire between Israel and Hamas was announced Wednesday after days of bloody fighting and deaths on both sides.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Amr announced the cease-fire, which took effect at 2 p.m. ET.

The announcement came after furious negotiations between diplomats, including Clinton, who has been in Cairo for talks with Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi, who has acted as a mediator between the two groups.

Yes, Israel wanted a ceasfire so Hamas can re-arm....... and its all the Democrats fault.

Are you ever going to tire of this moronic bullshit ?

Hillary and Morsi and President Obama have nailed a few of the lies you and others were spouting before the election.

blacksword404 -> RE: Go Hillary and Morsi! (11/21/2012 4:38:21 PM)

Meshaal thanked Egypt for mediating and praised Iran for providing Gazans with financing and arms. "We have come out of this battle with our heads up high," he said, adding that Israel had been defeated and failed in its "adventure".

"Allahu akbar, (God is greatest), dear people of Gaza you won," blared mosque loudspeakers in Gaza as the truce took effect. "You have broken the arrogance of the Jews."

The deal prevented, at least for the moment, an Israeli ground invasion of the Palestinian enclave following bombing and rocket fire which killed five Israelis and 162 Gazans, including 37 children.

The palestinians seem to have a perception problem.

I guess it's just a coincidence but Rush wasn't all that impressed either today.
His point of view is that these things are never over till one side or the other is just simply crushed.

I guess it's not just great minds that think alike [8|]

Anyone with a brain can see this is face saving rhetoric.

And it probably means the palestinian people will support another round of lobbing mortars in the future. Ensuring the cycle repeats.

YN -> RE: Go Hillary and Morsi! (11/21/2012 4:51:00 PM)

Hopefully the truce will hold, for Morsi invested a good bit of political capital with his own people, and if it blows back in his face, the new line the Egyptians are likely to take will be a good deal more negative towards Israel.

Which is why both sides need to find a permanent solution.

Until Hamas (or somebody else) gets more explosives, and a way to murder more Israeli civilians with them. Same as always.

I'd say the Palestinians need to come up with a whole new idea of what a permanent solution is.

Thank you.

That said it all (factually).

mnottertail -> RE: Go Hillary and Morsi! (11/21/2012 5:02:00 PM)

As do the Israelis, they haven't been the good guys throughout this deal by any stretch of the imagination, only the stronger.

Not sure it's even possible. The palestinian people(many of them) might want peace. But the ones lobbing mortars probably don't want peace. Without israel to fight who would they be? Most arab countries treat them like dirty stepchildren. They grudgingly give them support because they are fighting israel. If a lasting peace was to come about what would happen to all that support?

Okay...PoliteSub, I'm going to ask an honest question (because I don't live in your sphere....ultimately the potential that it could rain on you).

Let's lose the acerbic crap and just deal with the facts....

I actually don't know....my news comes from my home port (we all know the US has a bit of a bent on facts).

So tell us...from your perspective....

What's going on over there?

I think we'll probably see a permanent solution in that region right after the USA works out a permanent solution with Al-Qaeda.

I`d say there are two sides in a conflict, so new ideas are the onus of both.

Nonsense, this was going on before Al Qaida and will carry on afterwards, unless a local solution is found.
