My husband and I met a D/s couple sometime back in the spring while on vacation.  We discovered by accident that the female slave was kept completely bald.  She did have wigs that she wore when out in public, so I suppose it didn't affect that part of her life.  We were told later that her master demanded this as an act of submission (and possibly humiliation in my opinion).  As sadistic as I can be, I could never demand this of any female sub or slave in my posession.  On men it's not such a big deal, but I can find lots of other punishments that would bring me greater pleasure and would not last such a long time.

Elegrea, I wasn't being critical, I was just saying how I felt about it. If folks want to shave their heads or have all their subs heads shaven, hey be my guest. I'm just not a fan of doing that myself, and it isn't something I'd ask for.

my head has been shaved bald on a number of occasions;  i never experienced it as a punishment per se ...  but rather more as either humiliation or submission or a combination of both.  It always did send shivers down my spine i have to admit:  i really like my hair and have often worn it to my waist.  But i also looked good bald and liked it enough to keep it that way voluntarily for extended periods of time.  Some documentation of a couple of my headshaves can be found at this site:  http://www.uppercuts.com/

[:D]i love a shaved head, at the moment i have long hair and that's the way Master likes it, but prior to meeting Master i not only had a shaved head but also a mohawk at one time and even opted to get my head tattooed.. i find a shaved head to be very erotic, on the right person, some can look shocking, others just soo rubable lol.. if Master ever permitted me to shave my head i would do it in an instant. much cooler in summer and easy to wear a beenie .. no hat hair lol[:D]

i have waistlength red hair and i love it, i have had it cropped in the past and it looked terrible on me, Master also has long hair and He says if i cut mine he would cut His, i love his hair too so mine happily will stay where it is :0)
i do agree that on some women it can look stunning though, its totally horses for courses in my opinion.

i think anyone who shaved a subs head as "punishment" would simply be using that as an excuse to serve his/her own fetish to shave the head of an unwilling sub using "punishment" as an excuse to do so.

My Lord and I prefer my hair long.  I feel it would damage my self esteem if My Lord were to shave my head as punishment...I feel that my self esteem is very much tied to it, since it is one thing many find beautiful about me (including myself). 

I think it would be a rather extreme punishment, and definately not one to be used lightly.  Off the top of my head I cannot imagine a trangression that would deserve this particular punishment.

However, in the case of a slave, My Lord feels that it might be an appropriate indicator of status of one that is service only.  He would not want short hair on a slave he uses sexually, and he loves to pull hair.

For a lonnnnnnnnnng time nerves led to hair breakage as well as the need to tallywhack my hair to almost eye-watering shortness over the years.

Needless to say since the major stresses left and it is actually starting to grow back in, if a Master deemed my punishment as having to be shaved, it would literally break me and not in the good ways.

Not only do i feel i don't have the face for it, in a family with females who routinely have waist length or longer hair, it would stand out greatly and be cause of much question and speculation.  But on whole, to ask that of me would be something that would break my heart as well and frankly damage my trust in my Sir or House.

Forgiveness begged to those who enjoy the look of it on others but that is my two cents.

I can't imagine being bald.  I wouldn't be able to endure the staring out in public.  I'd probably hide under the covers until my hair grew back.

well on the plus side getting ready for work in the morning would be a breeze, on the down side I like my hair and would miss it. There are so many other ways to dish out punishment

I have seen women who are attractive shaved, but very few can pull off the look.  The same goes for men, not everyone has a head for showing off.
Personally, I would never go for this look. My hair might not be thick and luxurious, but I prefer it long and brushable. My taste tends toward longer hair, in my submissives, so shaving them would be counter productive, since then I would have a really long wait until I had the long hair I enjoyed back.

For me, I like a sub who is willing to show me how far they are willing to go in order to be my sub. Hair is only an accessory to the real beauty and in a dom/sub relationship it could also be a test of thier commitment and a show of thier loyality to her dom. Hair will always grow back once it's shaved off. Some ladies actually do enjoy the feeling of liberation from the weight and the need to take care of it.

Sir asked one day if i'd be willing to shave my head for Him. I said that if we were still together in 3 years, i might discuss it then.  It's not a hard limit seeing as my hair is always short anyway, but not something I'm really in a hurry to do just for the hell of it either.

I'd do it before I'd get branded [:D] but it's still something that would have alot of significance for me.

I shaved my head once, down to grade two...but that was my choice...as it happened I could carry off the look, very short hair suited me.
However since then I have grown more and more attatched to my hair, I wouldn't shave it off now though I keep it shortish because my Dom likes it.
As a punishment though, horrible idea, though as have said before i'd rather take the punishment than loose my relationship, but, it would be if Id done something to deserve it..
Loose my hair because I raised my eyes when they should have been low....no way....however for a serious grievence yes...
I guess that raises the question of what transgression is bad enough to warrent a punishment that severe..
