Okay so I've seen so many posts about spelling and what not here on the forums and so I thought I would start this thread. Here's the deal. I'm educated, I have a bachelors degree. However, I can sometimes be dyslexic and sometimes I spell words horribly. Does that make me an idiot? I think not! I do see the problem with people who use u, r, etc... btw I majored in chemistry not english. We absent minded people sometimes can just not be bothered with yanno finding a dictonary.

ok I am not a graduate of any big time 4 year college . but I have plenty of intelligence. So I found out recently with a couple of IQ tests that were given to me. I understand mistaking "to" and "too" ... and a few other words ..... I can also understand missing the space bar while I am typing ... and yes I have even missed placing a word in a sentence because my mind was thnking 6 words ahead on were I wanted to go in my post. I cannot however understand when a simple word like "would" gets mistyped with "wood" and if you are truely college educated should you mispell "permission" with "permition" ... some words I have seen totally botched in here just make me wonder on the english language teaching these days. I am far from perfect in spelling and grammer and my typing skills are very lacking ..... but if your that hard on perfection then maybe you need to be with God since he is the only perfect one. I will however reiterate .... basic spelling of words and the botch jobs some people type just makes you sit back and wonder just how educated they really are. I also have a habit of humor and typing words wrong for the appearence of redneckisms .... blue collar words are my favorite "assanine" = I give her face a 2 but her ass a 9 ...... [sm=biggrin.gif] or typing werks for me

No, this doesn't make you an idiot by far. I still to this day have my brat edit my posts, stories, and e-mails. I am no english major by far, but if you wish to discuss mathematics or electrical theory, Then I can hold my own. Hope this has made you feel, you are not alone. LOKI

What people think of you online really doesn't matter much, and the ones who matter will see past some lil mistakes you may make, so I wouldn't let it bug you too badly [:D]

wow take a nap and you miss tons of good posts! for sex, who cares how they spell... if it's a lifetime commitment then heck yes i want them to spell well... if they aren't intelligent to spell what they type correctly then how can they be smart enough to take care of and lead me? not the be-it-all and end-of-all of life however it 'werks' for me!!!

Know what you mean lass, I have a Masters in Applied Psychology but that doesn't mean zip when my dyslexia cuts in either.... Go girl and tell them that wants to critisise you to go and get F****d.....

This is soo true girlie. I don't really care what people think of me specially online.. Well except for one of course and well lol I'll refrain from commenting on that. But I've just seen so many posts lately knocking people for this and that and it's usually from the people preaching tolerance and etc... So I thought I would sorta start this one in jest. :P

Ahhhhh but you see construction workers are not the only men who use their hands.. many artesians use their hands too and they have the advantage of knowing exactly the right time to use them hard and when to be gentle... They can and do make the use of their hands an artform......

I once worked in construction. [not my thing] anyhow out of 70 men- maybe 3 would be what I would have considered a decent man. [that I would let date my sister, or ect.][ a crude bunch, indeed, but great eye candy!!!! ;-0~] So knowing when to handle light or with strength- I can understand that.

With Dislexia and Aphasia hitting anyone at any level I never judge anyone on their spelling. My son has Aphasia and I will be proud of whatever his writing level reaches. He will be going to college and get extra help in putting his thoughts on paper. The boy is sharp, no rreason to hold him back because his spelling will be bad.

I consider Myself to have at least average intelligence... but I never graduated high school... I actually dropped out twice and went to get a GED, and have never thought of going to college. I do think I have a pretty fair grasp on the english language though, as well as spelling and grammar. I've said before, that this being the medium we've chosen to communicate with, the words we type are the only thing that everyone else has to go on. So, regardless of how valid a point I'm making in a discussion... does anyone really think its going to be taken half as seriously if I'm misspelling every third common word ? Its judgemental, I know... but its too easy to write your response in WordPerfect, or even in an Email program... run a spellcheck, then cut and paste it onto the forum. On a side note... for those of you that actually -have- gone to college and get degrees.... don't the Professors grade on the ability to communicate effectively through term papers and such ? (not trying to slam anyone, I honestly don't know, since I've never went to college) T.R.
