I support the right of a woman to deny the use of her body as life support, much as I support the right of self determination of organ donation and the like, but it's a life lost as surely as any other when a termination is performed, and it should rightly be seen as every bit as sad as the death of someone older, unless you want to get into sorting lives and abandoning the principle of incommensurability. As such, the massacre in Connecticut was a fairly trivial thing, which doesn't diminish it, but merely recognizes that tragedy is part and parcel of human life and comes in packages large and small, some spread over time, some in the blink of an eye.
That's an important thing to understand to engage the anti-choice crowd on the right level: pro-choice is about rejecting utilitarian ethics, and embracing sovereignty of one's own body, with the unfortunate side effect that some lives will be lost because of it. Just as pro-guns is about rejecting utilitarian ethics, and embracing sovereignty of one's own life and respect for others' sovereignty, with the same and nearly as unfortunate side effect that some lives will be lost because of it.
It's about granting or seizing control over your life and liberty, in both cases.
Freedom is easily worth 3300 lives per day.
