ORIGINAL: Raptorsc I can agree to the increase in destructive capabilities of modern firearms over what was around back in those days. but as a rabid gun owner myself I still feel the tool is not to be blamed for the occurance. Responsibility still needs to fall on the failings of the individual and their support structure. I think gun owners need to elevate their level of responsbilities. I also think more mandatory training needs to be had before a person can be licenced for gun ownership. I see no issues haveing backround checks run and either participating in mandatory firearm training classes on some type of yearly basis. It's not the "bushmaster" rife that killed all those poor children, its the failure of the mother who left the firearms in a place where her mentaly distrought child had access. If i remember correctly the child had a history of mental issues. a responsible mother properly trained "should" have had her firearms locked away like the rest of us responsible gun owners do with our children unable to have access. However, Living in Gary, indiana like i do, I can probably walk onto any highschool property in my immediate area and walk out of their with a illegal firearm. In most urban environments guns are pritty easy to come by. Was the use of "rabid gun owner " a Freudian slip. I'm not disputing the use of it...i'm just wondering.
