To his credit, the OP says so right in the beginning of his profile but it seems there are quite a few others on here who omit that minor fact in their profiles.

I don't read this as the OP complaining about HIS problems. He seems pretty frank that he's explaining the "plethora" of other people complaining.

These are two extremely well-put thoughts that I think ring true in navigating many relationships, not just in dating, but also in marriages! We often forget our gender differences and approach our partner in ways that are logical for our gender, but perhaps not in a way that is appropriate or logical to theirs. In addition, we expect responses that we would ourselves give, but instead receive a markedly different reply.

..and, I love the way you phrased the second. Very illustrative and quite correct! We humans are a complex bunch!

Status: offline 		I think I'm a woman by this formula... the only time I'll make the first move, here or elsewhere, is if I find myself truly entranced with someone, or if I'm terminally bored. The first happens perhaps once a year or once every two years, and the second is scarcely more common, and really can hardly be called 'hunting.' I won't pretend to receive the volume of cmails femsubs seem to, but that doesn't make me any more tempted to get out my club and strike out into the dating pool.

Of course, part of that may be that there are something like 5 Czech femsubs on Collarme that are within pissing distance of my normal age range...

Men have always raped and pillaged and wanted hundreds of women and women who sadly today even now often left holding the babies do not just get 20 minutes of fun repeated several times a day with different people, but a lifetime of obligation after he leaves her in the lurch. Obviously I wish it were not so.

If you just want sex it is not that hard to find even at my age if you're reasonably okay looking and female (or even male) and even if you narrow that down to BDSM type sex.

Most people want relationships. In fact even most men who contact me at least pretend (and I am sure most don't lie) they also want close loving relationships. For those we tend to need a bit more than do we find him/her attractive visually. Of course you can ensure you are single for life by putting up so many requirements no one will ever meet them. Most of us have some fairly basic ones and I have not that often been single, one long marriage etc so I do not think mine are too limiting but every man I have ever rejected on sound grounds just about has said back to me - ah you will be alone with cats forever because you are too choosy. They cannot understand that the fact they may not have a job or are 8 stone over weight or have a huge hairy beard or an IQ of 80 or an awful voice or no education might possibly put one off.

All those things apply the other way round too - most men don't want someone they do not find attractive, no women with beards or carrying around an extra person in weight or with a drug habit or unable to hold down a job or whatever.

The main difference between the sexes is that men show off a pretty younger girl and their friends are jealous. Women have to show off someone who is kind of above them - earns more, better educated, higher income and assets. I wish our society were not so and people could say to me - well done just because the man on the arm is 25 and looks good.

Status: offline 		The other thing is most people don't really know what they want. They filter for things that may not matter to them, but aren't able to filter for things that they can't articulate.

I had a laundry list a mile long when I met The Man. Which made finding the right man much easier.

I compare it to when I built this house and went up to the lighting store to select a houseful of fixtures. The guy on that day warned me that I'd probably get them home and decide I really didn't like any of them. I told him that I already knew what I wanted, and wasn't picking anything that didn't fit those parameters. Art deco and wrought iron as I recall. It made it really easy to go past a hundred similar looking lights saying 'wrong, wrong, wrong' until I finally found one that was right.

Since power corrupts absolutely, and we are what our biology tells us to be, my older brother wisely taught me when I was distraught over a divorce:

(I realize this sounds chauvinist but the global point is biological.)

I wrote profiles for women. If you present yourself sensually, honestly and elegantly, you automatically scare 90% of the turds away and the quality of your mail inquiries goes up.

Negative remarks are . . . well, would you dare talk that way to handsome successful dominant man you were attracted to in real life? Fuck no! Then why oh why would you do that dumb shit in a profile? If you have stupid negative filters, you only attract asshats that would put up with that kind of bullshit from a woman.
