I have a strong preference for non-explicit, non-kinky IDs, which is actually the main reason I ditched my old ID ( I just wasn't comfortable with it anymore. ) Kink centered ones tend to make me think that's where the interest ends. As an aside, I think we should collectively set up a blind date between WomenAreBitches and FuckMeWithABaseballBat. I think they'd be great together.

A profile name definitely has input for me as to whether or not I'll spend time interacting with someone. Explicitly sexual names steer me away from someone, as does negative or punitive ones. There is a user with a variation of Idon'tf*kincare in my area that tries to send me rather, nice, messages from time to time. I can't get past his name to want to interact with the guy. Someone who is in their late 40's and presumably in a professional job who chooses a name like that?? Ew. No thanks.

People pick a name that suits them at the time they make it. Even if it sounds reasonable, though, people change, things happen...you can't know a person by the name they choose to go by. That's why I let them say something, and if they get really weird or stupid, I don't reply back. I'd rather judge them by their ability to converse, than their ability to conjure up a fantastic username. (My girl is a good conversationalist...when she talks. I'll yap your ear off, that's the only warning you get.)

A rose by any other name......Names come from many places in our heads,Women are bitches can be by one who has experienced hurt at the time of its creation, yours is following stars--I can only presume that you are into astronomy.Mine is Tempting--do I truly think I am tempting? nah.. :0)...I just wanted something that was appealing and sounded confident..So I guess this is my long winded way of saying that I would not stop at just the name..I would consider profile etc. to help me make a judgement.

The only names that put me off are the obviously violent or explicit ones. Other than that, I read the message. Mine popped into my head when I was creating my profile and I liked it--no deep inner meaning.

I would get turned off by sexually explicit names or names that would suggest the person didn't think much of him/herself - like names that start with "broken" or "loser" etc. I don't have any real qualms over names that start with Sir, Master, Lord, Mistress, Lady....whichever. The Mister's name starts with "Master" and a journal entry in his profile explains it. It wasn't a big deal to me. I created my own user name when I was creating a new life for myself. And I'm Spanish, so NuevaVida adequately reflected this for me.

I'm not really bothered by names with 'sir' or 'lord' or 'master' in the title. But I do bypass those overtly sexual ones, but the ones I really hate are the ones who show the person to be a misogynist and an arrogant fuckwad. Master's name is rather unusual, and he was more than happy to explain what it meant after we'd been chatting for a while.

The name counts in a big way. I admit its topical but it's not just judging a book by its cover. It's judging a book by how long it is, how large the font is, how many times the spine has been read through, whether it was handled well or bent in half, whether the pages are dog eared, whether the paper is yellowed, whether there are notes in the margins, whether it is signed by the author, whether it is covered in dust, whether the corners are bent in. An online handle says a lot about a person. Sometimes it says enough to steer you clear all together. No one would blame you for ignoring xX69[name]69Xx. But BambiBoi, who could disagree with that? Hunters, I guess. I take it one step farther and take a serious look at the avatar accompanying the handle. Bambi, you and your sexy alpha-docked background. RAWR.

People read a lot into names but I swear mine has nothing to do with kink. It has to do with a personal philosoply I have about pain.(don't worry I'm not going to bother any of you with it) Years ago I had a different name here. One that actually is what people call me irl. But it was based on a very old joke about something everyone I have ever been in a realationship with has ended up calling me. Awhile back I decided I didn't need or want the reminder so I changed my name. I changed it everywhere else on the net as well to make it easier on the folks that know me. I think in the long run it doesn't really matter what you call your self or what your mother named you at birth, people will always read something in to it. I personally don't look to much at a name unless it is implied it is the person real name. I don't look at nicknames, rarely read profile, etc. If I get a msg I judge what the msg says then try to understand the person better and find out if we click or not. But I'm weird like that.

My real name is the perfect name for a Domme and actually a name that my sisters call me when they think I'm being pissy or stuck up lol I thought about using it as a screen name once but 1. people would think I'm a domme or switch, of which I am neither and 2. it uses my real first name although really it wouldn't bother me but it might Master or others who know me so I decided against it. I still think it would be fun to use though. [:D]

-FR- I try to let the person's actual message hold more weight than just the user name, but I will admit that it can sometimes shade how I view the message. That's usually only with the really explicit ones though. I don't have any issue with Sir Master/Mistress Lady etc.

I avoid certain screen names. Examples: Fucktoy4u SireMasterLordDomonus JarlNordic PimpMasterB I do think that a screen name / nick paints a picture of you. I wish CM, made it easier for folks to change nick names rather than just making new profiles but that is a different topic. Lol
