Have you ever actually talked to these women? I have yet to meet a woman raising a child that was a product of rape to have negative feelings toward the child.

You show me a woman that was forced to raise a child a child she had by rape, one she didn't want to keep. And I'll show you a woman that is likely somewhat bitter towards the child.

Adoption means no one is FORCED to raise a child. They choose to raise the child. And I know several women who are mothers who conceived via rape, and they love their children and don't regret keeping them.

That's the difference. They want to raise the child. In the case of a guy being made to raise someone else's child against his will, there might be some heavy negative feelings. Not only did your wife cheat on you, but she got pregnant by him. And because you did the right thing and were a proper parent to the child before you found out its not your blood, now they want to force you to raise another mans child?

I'm simply not for making one man bear another's burden. If you choose to of your own mind then good. But not by force.

There's plenty of stories on Google that show both sides of the fence.

What abhors me most of all is a society where the woman is often forced to marry the rapist because the honour of the family is more important than the individual who has been violated.
It is my perception that this sort of thing happens almost exclusively in Islamic cultures.

Personally, I feel the biological father is the person that should usually pay their fair share towards the upkeep and maintenance of their offspring.
In this particular case, I'm torn between the foolish donor and his "good deed", and the other woman in the "marriage" who originally agreed with the mother to have the child in the first place.
To me, they are both equally to blame in some respect.
The mother and partner to deliberately skirt round the laws and the donor for not checking first.

Just my [sm=2cents.gif]

This is one of those things that will be ironed out in the future. I'm guessing they can't go after the other woman because she didn't have any genes involved. But what then happens if two lesbians do go to a doctor for insemination and both are parents? If they break up do they go after the none custodial woman for child support? Stuff like this will get sticky to deal with.

The negative feelings should be towards the (ex) spouse.  If you have been a child's father for several years, that child thinks of you as their father.  To step out of their life makes the father as much of a scumbag as the mother.

This is something that is already clearly "ironed out" in the eyes of the law.  Many homosexual couples adopt children and both partners are legal parents.  When one parent is biological and the other isn't, often they will also adopt making them both legally responsible.

i like the comment from one of the yahoo ppl

"when will mothers who offer kids up for adoption" be legally held responsible for child support?

I hope you are holding this up for ridicule.

My niece gave up her daughter for adoption by my nephew. Signed the legal forms giving up all parental rights.

The state of Pennsylvania is nailing her for child support.
