I'd love the counter idea. It would help everyone cut through the BS that some so-called experts throw about.

I remember distinctly what a surprise it was to me when I was new here to find that people spoke of theory in terms of absolute fact. The female slaves were the worst by far. I can't recall how many postings I read from one or the other only to find out months later that there was no master... there had never been any master... or even anyone they'd ever bent knee to under any circumstances. The entire thing was the fevered imaginings of some woman who'd read some hot porn or something.

So... advice to newbies reading this thread:

When someone posts something that makes you scratch your head, please go on over to their profile. If they are currently seeking that tells you something. Either they have never done whatever it is they are saying or else they did and it failed. In this same way, "masters" who talk about all their dozens of "slaves" that they have owned are also clearly indicating, "no intention/ability to hold a long-term relationship" and "enslavement is surface deep to them".

Assuming you are interested in something that is not skin deep and you'd like something which has the chance to go long-term then I'd suggest finding actually successful couples which demonstrate those attributes.

And it ends up being a vicious cycle. They have over romanticized idea of what a D/s or M/s relationship is, so the relationship disappoints and ends. Then they start over.

Well sure, he is free to follow through or not follow through. And I am free to end the M/s dynamic.

Sure, and I'm more than happy to let them wallow in their own twue karma. What bothers me more is that new people come and read this stuff and get misled because it's presented in the present tense rather than the future (future/simple) tense.

I obey my master
is not the same as
When I get a master I will obey him.

I would love to see... when I had a Master, I obeyed him..

Past, present... both are good experiences... not all relationships end because of failure.

Oh, I agree with the breaks... but in that moment... when she says "no" she isnt a slave.... Im not saying the relationship is gone, trashed, beyond repair... but she (and it could just as easily be a he) is making a determination for herself, autonomously, without regard for the owner's desires/demands.

I find the word "no" a great way to start a discussion. But, for years I heard.. a slave never says "no"... and I always said... wanna bet?

Except for those of us who have orders not to accept something that will turn into a clusterfuck or not work or in any way damage the relationship. I'm supposed to have his back, which includes telling him when I think he's making a major mistake.

Part of what I bring to this relationship is a formidable intelligence. It would mean that he was pretty damn foolish if he didn't take advantage of it.

I would hope all men were that way with their intelligent women... sadly... that isnt always the case. I was just trained to use words besides "no". Its a word I am enjoying having the right to say once again.

I hate saying the word "no". After having raised a kid and having to constantly say that, it got to the point I never, ever wanted to hear it ever again. There's only one word I'm not allowed to say to Master and it starts with an M, not an N.

Now I have to say, I do say no to Master but it's more like...."nnnnnoooooo....plllleeeassse. Anything but thaaaat!!??" as I try to squirm out from under him so I can run and hide somewhere.

There's a lot to be said for reality along with the force of gravity in the world.

You would hear that a lot in our house too.

While I understand the nature of the problem you're referring to, I myself don't find much conflict in reaping the rewards of Carol's intelligence and obedience. As a native English speaker I find myself perfectly well able to distinguish between...

"No, I think that's a bad idea."
and
"No, I won't obey."

I suppose the "don't say no" business is important to those who find the need or desire for speech training but I don't have that problem so "no" is just another word to us all except for one specific meaning of it.

Disagree.

A "slave" has as many and the same rights as everyone else in the same culture/country etc.
The fact that they may have chosen to place themselves at the beck and call of another is thier choice.

Thier rights remain as they were.

The only time one loses "rights" is in the workplace.
