ORIGINAL: lovmuffin Do you really think the drug gangs, bank robbers, rapists, organized crime types along with the lunatics, woman butchering maniacs and other assorted crazies will disarm if they only pass some kind of gun ban law ? They won't disarm, and the only ones effected by such laws do not pose a threat to anyone. A fraction of a percent of the semi autos out there in private hands are a problem yet you want to go after all of them and smear their owners and the NRA. That's what's freakin crazy. You paint a false picture of the NRA and wrap it all up into your neat little distorted view or a view which you have formed from all the venomous and slanderous anti NRA talking points. What's crazy and extreme is the fact that the gun grabbers would goolishly use such a horrible tragedy to further their political aims to pass useless gun laws that won't solve the problems they are supposed to address. False arguement....no one says that crime will end b/c of the coming assult weapons ban. We used to have an intolerable amount of drunk driving deaths.....till we got smart and turned those numbers around. We didn`t have to ban booze to do that. Will we completely eliminate drunk driving deaths? No....no one ever said that or suggested that stricter booze laws would eliminate drunk driving. That NOT a reason NOT to do anything.... No one is suggesting that stricter gun rules will eliminate gun deaths....or gun crime.....but again...that`s no reason NOT to do something about reducing gun deaths and gun crimes. Claiming that that`s being suggested, is just more rightist bull shit... That's a false argument. Did you not get the gist of what lovmuffin said? The only gun owners you are going to effect are the ones who aren't likely to be a problem in the first place. It would be like placing much higher restrictions, increased regulatory costs, and mountains of paperwork on teetotalers to reduce drunk driving incidents. The target group isn't the group that is the problem. Drunk drivers, especially repeat offenders chose to drink and then chose to drive. Being drunk impairs reaction time, speed, awareness, vision, etc. That makes it more difficult to safely operate a motor vehicle. Owning a gun does not make it more difficult to safely use a gun. What did we do to lower drunk driving incidents? Did we ban the sale of Jack Daniels black label?
