I've never really gotten the "home number" thing. First, many people no longer have landlines, but have gone exclusively to cell phones. Second, if you have been talking for a while, you have probably spoke on the phone. Third, when are you going to call this person's "home number" to even know if it is correct or if someone of the opposite sex answers, presumably a spouse? Before the meeting? Hell, they are on their way to meet you, are coming straight from work, were running errands beforehand, blah, blah, blah. There are all kinds of "rules" about first meets. Have a "safe" call. Meet in a public place. Don't play on a first meet. Run a background check before. Have them send you a copy of their driver's license. On and on and on. Did people do this for plain old blind dates before the internet became the next great dating arena? Of course not, and the theory that it was a friend fixing you up then is nonsense. Lots of times, it was a friend of a friend of a friend. There are really only two rules. Meet in a public place and keep your damn clothes on. Doesn't matter if you are kinky or vanilla. Same rules apply to both.
