France has been bombing Mali which is in turmoil that can be directly linked to western interference in the Arab and muslim world. Will the west ever learn that it is the cause, not the solution of the chaos in the Arab and muslim world?

Oh bullshit. The Tauregs are fucking warriors, its why Khadaffi used them, he also invaded Mali. That region has always been in conflict, read the fucking bible... All the Europeans did was put the oppressed minorities in power over the oppressive majorities. Our invasion of Iraq was idiocy and doomed to fail because of that. Afghanistan fell into the classic trap the Brits experienced there. We wanted a leader weak enough we could control.him and so he was too weak to control the warlords. Take note of that word...afghanistan has NEVER known peace, war is in their blood. Frankly, what we need to do is adopt an updated version of British colonial occupations, reboot the countries from the ground up but with the majorities in power over the religious right. Educate them on being civilized, add in women's rights, and build a decent economy that is self sustaining and over a couple of decades slowly hand it back to them

Jim, We had that plan. Jimmy Carter created it, congress passed it and we would be energy independant now. Ole Raygun destroyed it. The plan was good enough that it was relabeled by Bush and put forward as his enegry policy. Sad thing is, the time has passed for it to have the affect you seek. We missed the window because of Reagan. China and the other devoloping countries will now take up any soack in oil demand. That was why PNAC called for a "pearl harbor" event to galvanize public opiniin for an invasion of Iraq so we could sieze it as a strategic move to muscle china out of oil. Many of the authors and members of that group were in,the bush administration... Strategic interesest of corporate america do no mean what is best for us as a nation...

No, that lesson will never be learned. And, I, for one, am thankful for that. Couple of years ago it almost looked like it was working... but as soon as the crazies and their political ringmasters got restless, it all went to shit. I can't make sense of it all... Especially religious wars e.g Christianity V.s Judaism V.s Islam... All three have the same 'founder' Abraham... yet bicker about who 'owns' the Holy Land. Seriously missing the Holy Land wish I could go back soon for a visit but It is so dangerous for me being a Christian. Why Can't we all get along?
