quote:
ORIGINAL: Rule Abraham was not a founder of Christianity. He was duped by his secretive pagan god to not worship pagan gods but the Divine instead only. This worship of the Divine only is what Christianity, Islam and Judaism have in common. (Though atheism might be added as a fourth way of not worshipping pagan gods; the Divine likely does not care whether it is worshipped or not - it will respond to any spiritual communication.) Seperate from that was the commandment of the pagan god for Abraham to circumcise: that created Judaism. Likely this pagan god, perceptive guy though he was, had no idea what the consequences of this practice would be beyond the immediate one. Circumcising populations and most Christian non-cricumcising populations are on different and antithetical evolutionary tracks. If the Abramic god is divine, the last thing the human race needs is the divine because it is a stone-age mentality. Male circumcision originated in the horn of Africa along with female circumcision, it was practiced pre-Ancient Egypt and in Ancient Egypt and it was a practice adopted by proto-Jews. In fact it was wide spread throughout the middle east as a way of suppressing sex for sexual pleasure. Through the Roman empire circumcision (of both sexes) found its way into the Christian church but as the Christian church spread north, the northern European tribes rejected circumcision as a blood ritual. The early church backed down on trying to enforce circumsion, prefering to have converts without being circumcised than no converts at all. The main reason Christianity caught on in Europe was the church bestowed divine right on kings were before their only right was through power or election. There is absolutely nothing divine about religion, it is all about power and authority on earth which is why it is so bitterly divisive. quote:
ORIGINAL: Rule Because. Because I want humanity to evolve and be elevated above animal status. Religion is stone age superstition and will never elevate humans above animals because we are just an other species that will live or die depending on our own efforts and good sense.
