France has been bombing Mali which is in turmoil that can be directly linked to western interference in the Arab and muslim world.

Will the west ever learn that it is the cause, not the solution of the chaos in the Arab and muslim world?

All the Europeans did was put the oppressed minorities in power over the oppressive majorities. Our invasion of Iraq was idiocy and doomed to fail because of that. Afghanistan fell into the classic trap the Brits experienced there. We wanted a leader weak enough we could control.him and so he was too weak to control the warlords. Take note of that word...afghanistan has NEVER known peace, war is in their blood.

Frankly, what we need to do is adopt an updated version of British colonial occupations, reboot the countries from the ground up but with the majorities in power over the religious right. Educate them on being civilized, add in women's rights, and build a decent economy that is self sustaining and over a couple of decades slowly hand it back to them

I have a faster, cheaper way that would create American jobs.
A crash program on homegrown renewable energy would eliminate dependence on foreign oil, create American jobs, reestablish the middle class as an economic power, mint brand new American millionaires, make us, once again, the envy of the world with our science and technology and then those fuckers in the ME can go back to cheerfully killing each her off like they did for millenia.

Jim,

We had that plan. Jimmy Carter created it, congress passed it and we would be energy independant now. Ole Raygun destroyed it. The plan was good enough that it was relabeled by Bush and put forward as his enegry policy.

Sad thing is, the time has passed for it to have the affect you seek. We missed the window because of Reagan. China and the other devoloping countries will now take up any soack in oil demand.

That was why PNAC called for a "pearl harbor" event to galvanize public opiniin for an invasion of Iraq so we could sieze it as a strategic move to muscle china out of oil. Many of the authors and members of that group were in,the bush administration...

Strategic interesest of corporate america do no mean what is best for us as a nation...

The US cant afford to do that now, you blew yer wad & are now tettering on the brink.. you have a couple of wars to pay for and now of course there is that whole healthcare thing which I dont think is gonna be cheap.. You dont have the money or Obama would have played that card by now, he threw a little money in that direction but not much and not enough to make a difference..

No, that lesson will never be learned. And, I, for one, am thankful for that. I truly think the best, fastest and most cost-effective way to drastically end the steady stream of terrorists from the ME, and the Islamification of the world, is to get the fuck out of the ME. Let it be known that we will come to the aid of Israel if it is attacked. Let Israel know that we will not back it if it starts the fighting. Then, we need to gtfo. If they are having issues, let them figure it out, provided they aren't killing one another too much. There comes a point in time when people have to figure out how to play nice together. We have gone beyond that.

We haven't even managed to do that in Northern Ireland, and they speak English. Couple of years ago it almost looked like it was working... but as soon as the crazies and their political ringmasters got restless, it all went to shit. Both sides are arming against each other, investment is on the run so the economy will crash and provide more idle fools to recruit, and here we go again.

And you think you can do it in a country where they don't even pretend to be the same religion and culture as you?

I can't make sense of it all... Especially religious wars e.g Christianity V.s Judaism V.s Islam... All three have the same 'founder' Abraham... yet bicker about who 'owns' the Holy Land. Seriously missing the Holy Land wish I could go back soon for a visit but It is so dangerous for me being a Christian. Why Can't we all get along?
