Pour another BIG KOOL-AID for you denier nut cases.

Did you read the EO's? Did you disagree with all of them? Which ones did you agree with or disagree with? Is there something about an EO, in and of itself, that you find unConstitutional, illegal or just distasteful?

Most felons that complete their sentence, jail time plus parole do not end up back in prison. Should those people continue to be citizens without full rights of every other citizen?

In my opinion, yes. Violent felons should not have their gun rights returned to them under any circumstance.

I agree with you, for once. But they also should not have their voting rights returned to them under any circumstance.

I never understood why the right to vote is taken away. I can while they are in prison/jail... but after release.. whats the purpose? They didnt harm anyone with their vote.

Once upon a time felonies were the serious crimes. These were the crimes that showed you were no longer abiding by the social contract. Murder, rape, aggravated assault and/or battery, arson, robbery, burglary, kidnapping, and treason. (Originally these were all punishable by forfeiting your life and/or your property) If you are unwilling to abide by the social contract you do not qualify for the rights of a citizen. Which includes the right to vote. Now, we have felonies that are violations of regulations. Such as transporting an endangered animal (no matter what the reason) or pocketing an arrowhead from BLM land or what have you. Things where you may not have intended to commit a crime, but did. And so giving back the stripped away rights has become more common.

And supposedly, according to our law and policies, they are rehabilitated members of our society.  The law allows for those rehabilitated members, under certain circumstances to have their rights restored.

Now if the teabaggers get a budget, fix the debt problems, and build infrastructure, remove corporate welfare, pass laws that restrict the shit out of corporations and envisioning them as people,  and rebuild the state hospital systems and all the other things they have  fucked up, afterwards, I think it would not be a horrific thing to open up discussions on whether or not those laws should be modified.

To answer that question about prison, when in custody of State, your status in nonvoluntary. The courts have ruled that as such the State must provide for you.
