Are you seriously under the illusion that the NRA is NOT a lobbying arm for the gun industry ?

The gun industry's trade organization is the NSSF.

Are you serious? One represents gun makers. The other gun owners. You don't see how their courses might run parallel to each other?

Why wouldn't they work together where their goals agree?

It'st he fact that they work together when their goals diverge that proves the point.

I don't follow either organization so I don't know how often they do and don't work together. But their goals re intertwined.

Red neck humor? Gerneralize much?

I thought the point was pretty simple to pick up. Maybe you could get someone to read it to you real slowly.

Of course nothing in the cartoon above is anywhere near how the discussion goes.....but enjoy your laugh.
Seems the time has arrived to actually do something about guns, damm shame is that an awful lot of tragedies were allowed to transpire before we got sick and tired of doing nothing.
If you find that humorous that's on you

It is probably too late, he might have passed his genes on, if he could find some woman to pity him enough.

We seem to have a few red necks here....but even they seem not to be able to understand their own humor. Must be that they are engrossed with an inanimate object they think is a phallic symbol.

I never could understand Red Neck humor

You are working from the false premise that it's supposed to be funny. It's not. And the fact that some people can't see the point being made is also not funny.

Oh I do see the point and it is funny, and you still going to have to pay $175.00 for your Comic-Con ticket......Now that is real funny

Really? Prove that statement. What is the point being made?

And what do you find funny about it.

I didn't say you were, I just figured you couldn't. And sure enough, when I raised you folded. Now the hand is over, and everybody knows that if you'd had the Ace you would have called.

Thanks for playing.

Given that "Militia" in slave owning states was "Escaped Slave Patrol", I could see how ( for example, Virginia ) wouldn't get involved until their Police State was guaranteed.

I mean, if "Militias" were for repelling invasions, the brits wouldn't have gotten to DC in 1812, right?

American Militias were originally formed at the behest of the King, as was the insistence that all white male adults be armed. The reason for this was the huge size of the colonies making the cost of protecting them with royal troops prohibitive. George couldn't afford that to maintain that many troops that far away.

Militias were never able to stand up to anywhere near an equal sized force of professional soldiers. They cut and ran almost every time.

The "bone" was gun-control, not the Second Amendment. Gun-control originated as a way to keep guns out of black hands.

I have problems with all of this. Britain used militias for local protection and regular forces for wars. I also think you will be hard pressed to show were the king insisted every white male be armed.
