ORIGINAL: EsotericLady Unfortunately birds have other predators as well.... other birds (eagles, hawks, and assorted birds of prey) DOGS (yes, dogs!!!!) reptiles, raccoons, fox, other birds, and assorted egg-snatchers PEOPLE who hit the birds with their cars, destroy their habitats by erecting housing developments, spray/use pesticides and insecticides, pollute waterways, disturb nesting sites with recreational noise, the list goes on and on. So if you TRULY want to eradicate the world of bird predators? You may as well destroy everything and everyone, and the world will truly be "for the birds." Or maybe you should become informed on the matter and learn that cats are a major killer of songbirds and that in places like New Zealand where many birds nest on the ground or on low limbs they are the major threat to native birds. New Zealand has no native mammals and the only native reptiles are insect eaters. The only native bird of prey that kills other birds is critically endangered itself.
