I occasionally wear blokes boxers but it does not make me a cross dresser it just makes me more comfy than my other underwear does at times.
Labels i dislike.

Hmmmmmm....  do cross dogs wear dresses?  Or eat hot cross buns?  I need to have it defined 6 ways before I can answer.

By the way, each of those definitions will be wrong.

Yours,

benji

*grins* ......But benji- for those six ways that will be defined there'll be 36 others telling you that you were wrong for saying they're wrong and that you shouldnt have had hot cross-buns for lunch because if you were real you would've had cross-rolls instead, therefore making the whole point void and basically making it incapable of being labeled!

Did that make sense? I hope NOT! .... lmao

I think one way to address your question is to offer a question.

Crossdressing involves dressing in the clothes of another gender, sex, rank, whatever, it does not necessarily mean you want to be that other group but that you want/like their clothes.

So if you could buy men's clothes in satin would you wear that or does it have to be women's clothes?

If it has to be women's clothes, I'd define that as crossdressing.

If it could be men's clothes, hire a tailor or learn to sew and buy fabric. That would end any confusion you have and give you the feeling of the fabric you want.

OedipusRexIt -> RE: Does cross dressing make me a cross dresser (6/20/2006 9:37:42 AM)

IMO, yes, you are a cross-dresser.  I also don't think it matters what you call yourself, just so long as you know yourself.

I've had debates with people who engage in homosexual behavior, but don't think they are gay or bi. I think this falls into the same category.  If you engage in the behavior that defines a predeliticion, it seems pretty clear that the predeliction helps define you.

CrescentLuna -> RE: Does cross dressing make me a cross dresser (6/20/2006 10:02:18 AM)

Only in the strictest technical sense does it make you a cross-dresser. But I think if we were going to be that strict 90% of western female population would be, too. I mean, my work requires me, a female, to wear pants. I'm hardly "working as a cross-dresser."
Anyway, back to your question, I think you have a satin-fetish based on the fact you've experimented with dressing in clothings of the opposite gender and it isn't really something you're crazy about - it is all about the material. I would say "No" I wouldn't put it down as one of your kinks or, if I were asked to describe you for some reason, wouldn't put "cross dresser" into the description. I might throw in "likes satin in all shapes and forms, though."

Does wearing a kilt make me a CD?[:D]

Who cares what other people think?

I would agree that you have a fetish for satin.

Stupid question? Bear with me. i love to wear satin, and as my profile says i wear satin panties all the time. i also wear stockings or hold ups. When i can i also wear satin outerwear - shirt/blouse trousers etc. The point is i don't do this 'cos i want to look like a woman, i do it becasue i love the feel of the material. In the past i have been put in the position of being made to wear female underwear as part of a scene, and that's fine, but if i have the choice, it's always satin i go for -other materials (eg cotton panties) just don't do it for me. If i wear a dress or skirt (satin of course) it's the way it feels, hangs and moves that i enjoy. not the fact that i might look 'Female'. So, am i a cross dresser, or just someone who enjoys dressing.

Yes. You are a cross-dresser.

MistressSassy66 -> RE: Does cross dressing make me a cross dresser (6/20/2006 11:35:56 AM)

If you like wearing those items I would say you like to cross dress, but maybe not full fledge CD.Do you do the make-up and wig also or just the clothes?

In My mind...wearing these items outside of the home would go more towards being a CrossDresser and not some one who just likes to dress at home.

Of course thats just My POV and I'm not a head doc so its just a guess.

Brosco, if you wear a "sari", then you ARE a crossdresser...in any culrtural context. A "sari" is a woman's dress, the sort worn in India, I think what you mean is a "sarong", which is the long skirt worn by men and women in Malaysia & Indonesia.

OedipusRexIt -> RE: Does cross dressing make me a cross dresser (6/20/2006 11:46:37 AM)

Have you ever met someone smoking a cigarrette who says "I'm not really a smoker"?

This is just like that, IMO.  What is, is.  What matters at all is what you think about it.  What you think about it, not me, or anyone else.

Wear anything that makes you feel good.  Don't, if it doesn't.  Rejoice in either choice.

I don't think it's a stupid question. Any guy with a material fetish for something like satin will eventually come face to face with the issue since the bulk of the clothes made from the mentioned materials tend to be womens clothes.

Still if you just enjoy the sensuality of the clothes and not the pretending to be a woman or even a feminized male then I'd say you've got a very normal material fetish.

Although if you want to take the definition literally then wearing the clothes of another gender makes you a crossdresser.

I don't know what that would make me as I get rather rude comments about being a dyke when I wear mens clothes but some would see me as a crossdresser just becuase I wear womens clothes every day.

But your motivation for wearing the clothes is the real determination of whether you are trans, or just a person with a material fetish.

Anyhow enjoy your fetish guilt free. That's all that matters.

If you suck a cock, does that make you a cock sucker?  Of course it does.

bignipples2share -> RE: Does cross dressing make me a cross dresser (6/20/2006 9:28:24 PM)

LOL Taggard
If it were just about the material and the way it moves, there are mens silk robes, mens silk nightshirts, mens silk boxers, briefs, thongs and the list goes on. You've chosen womens silk clothing and nylons. Just the fact that you enjoy wearing womens clothing does not make you homosexual or bi. You don't need to put the label of crossdresser on your profile, but if you plan to do this while you have a partner, you might want want to just put, 'occasionally enjoys wearing nylons and womens silk clothing'. You could also state that you are completely straight, if this is one of your concerns. This way, there are no surprises later. If you're viewing someones profile and cross dressing is a hard limit for them, the fact that you're not wearing make-up, or going out in public may not make any difference to them and they will still view it as as a hard limit. Just depends on the person you talk with.

Yeah I guess it does. [:)]

Still in my case wearing mens clothes feels like crossdressing, but back in my teens and twenties wearing womens clothes was crossdressing. It all depends on which sex I am at the time. [:)]

Someone kinda touched on this, but to paraphrase it:  How come a Tom-boy isn't called a crossdresser?  Because they're called a Tom-boy?  Double-standard?  Still doesn't invoke the same social connotations though.

RS

Hello RSWingman,

I think it can do. I was viewed as DISTINCTLY odd when I was a child and dressed as a boy, behaved like a boy and actually WANTED to be a boy. Nothing pleased me more than when I was mistaken for one. I was seen as weird, different, not just a *tomboy*...it was much more than just wearing boys clothes and rough-housing, I really did NOT want to be a girl nor grow up to be a woman.
