I would think that any Dom or Domme or Master or Mistress would want their sub / slave to be intelligent
and articulate, and yes a good communicator.
Why?
Well for one thing, life is a reality and though one would like to be bound 24/7 and 365 days per year
there are things like paying the rent and other life issues which may not allow for that.

also, There are times I would think, at least, where when you simply need shut down
time from play and may enjoy some stimulating conversation.

Of course, i know that bdsm has every type of interest and therefore I asked this question,
not to agree with or disagree but to stimulate conversation in this forum. Thanks

It's been my experience that most appreciate intelligence. Some are threatened by a submissive that is more intelligent than they are and a select few are threatened when any intelligence is displayed.

From your comments, seems to me you are talking more about compatibility than intelligence. As long as there is a good conversation dynamic, the relationship will probably do okay. Personally I cannot abide bimbos. But I have friends who relate to them just fine and seem as happy as anyone else.

That said, I could not tolerate someone that doesn't show at least some intelligence and the ability to hold a semi-decent conversation.

Here's the thing. Those Doms/Dommes who want a RELATIONSHIP want someone who is intelligent.

Those Doms/Dommes just looking to get laid and nothing else at all don't want someone intelligent. The dumber the better.

That's always been my experience at least and no not just bdsm wise but people in general. It's always been this way and always will.

You couldn't really dominate someone like that - she is far too slow at doing anything.

Some examples...
3 hours or more to get a cup of tea or coffee - if you get one at all because she 'forgets' why she was in the kitchen and usually ends up doing something else.
She doesn't know or understand why people want wine or beer in a glass as she's happy with a mug.
She can spend hours just wandering down the local shops and back and come back with something completely different to what you asked for. The shop is barely 5 minutes walk down the street.
It's no good even writing it down because she forgets you wrote it and she'd put it in her pocket!!

No... Trying to dominate that sort of person would soon wear you out.

I will only speak for myself. I find it necessary to have a very intelligent sub. I want one that challenges me mentally and keeps me on my toes. A woman will always be smarter than me in some aspects in dealing with certain things and situations, not all but some. It is in those areas that I as her Dom need to be able to trust her intelligence and to listen to her and heed her advice. After all, it is the intelligent submissive that usually, not always but usually, is the best submissive. Just for the Dom's on here that might say that what I just said makes me sound like a switch, well nothing could be further from the truth. A wise man, be he in business, purely vanilla, BDSM, a Dom, or whatever, when he hears sound advice, is ill fated if he does not receive and use said advice.

I think generalised assumptions about what a
Dom/me would or wouldn't prefer in a sub aren't
going to be very accurate.

Some men like dumb women some don't, it's a
individual preference, I can't speak for dommes
because I don't really know any.

I think most people may prefer an intellectual
equal, if for no other reason than being able to
relate on the same levels.
Although... I think there may be also be a desire on
the part of a sub to find a dom that has a suitably
respectable intelligence, if for no other reason than
it may engender their respect and make him seem
more attractive from their subbie point of view.

Mental capabilities are a very broad spectrum
thing and not all capabilities a person may have
will be conventionally usefull of even measurable.

I hold to an idea that many don't agree with, and
that is, that a persons genetics do determine a
very large proportion of their mental capabilities,
regardless of education and upbringing although
they do play a very important part in enabling a
person to better utilise those capabilities...

I liken it to a computer and software, software
determines how a computer uses information but
there are limits imposed on what the software can
achieve based on the type of computer it's in.

Many people don't like the sound of that and to
each their own, the reason I mention it is that I
think my attraction to intelligent women may be
due to the heartless bastard in me that sizes up
women by imagining what kind of children they
would make...
It's not a big deciding factor, and there are many

I've never judged any partner for their brain capacity. However, I do appreciate the intelligence of my girl. She is more intelligent than any previous partner, it is obvious and satisfyingly stimulating.

She doesn't engage me in intellectual discussions, and knowing her reasons, I respect them. It is a pity, though.
