ARIES83 - No, I've actually just been really busy r/l with video shoots and things of that nature. I'm still working out hard, although I stopped running for the moment. I want a good joint supplement before I start adding that on a regular basis.

lovethyself - Welcome! Inches vs weight was a hard lesson for me learn in this journey.

I'm glad this thread is helping other's.

Athena- Woohoo! GREAT JOB!

Personally,

Even if I take time away from the rest of the forums, perhaps I will make it a point to post on this thread. :)

I've realized that if I am doing a 2-4 hour shoot NOT to do my regular morning work out. The squats during the shoot on top of the work out kill me! Lol

Has anyone done Shaun Ts Rock'n Body Work Out?
I keep hearing good things about it and it looks fun!

I'm now 20 lbs away from from goal weight and I'd like to get from a size 13 jean to a 9/10 by June.

ETA: Some noticed changes have been I have what most consider a regular period now, before they only lasted 1-2 days. I have also lost a full cup size in my bust and my feet have changed shape quite a bit and it is def. noticable in photographs and videos.

lovethyself -> RE: Workout (3/25/2013 8:27:42 PM)

Thanks for the welcome.

I seem to have done something to my elbow. I think I pinched a nerve slightly. It only hurts when it's fully flexed (like when I reach back to put my arm through my jacket), but I can feel the pain in my pinky and ring fingers too.

It made my workout today a little less than spectacular, since I didn't want to strain it further. Although, the rowing machine didn't seem to give me any problems. But playing violin tonight did.

I'm hoping I just slept on it weird, and didn't actually do damage to it yesterday at work. I'm going to take it a little easier tomorrow, and make sure to lift with my other arm when I have to.

Does anyone have suggestions for working abs that doesn't use your arms? I already do crunches, but I usually do planks, suspended leg lifts, and push ups as well. If my elbow isn't just a today kind of hurt, I will need to adjust my workout to accomodate it.

I can't wait for the warmer weather so I can do outdoor activities. I miss my kayak.

AthenaSurrenders -> RE: Workout (3/26/2013 3:56:49 AM)

The only things I can think of are variations on the crunch really. V-raises, bicycle crunches, leg raises, reverse crunches (where you have your legs in the air and bent and lift your hips up). The good thing about the abs is that they get an incidental work out with lots of other exercises so even if you have to lay off for a while they won't go completely unworked. I can't wait for nicer weather either, me and my toddler will both benefit from extra time on the playground.

Does anyone use a pedometer? My husband got me a fitbit for my birthday (NEVER could have justified spending that much on myself) and I love it. I find myself walking up and down the stairs before bedtime to push myself over into the next achievement level. I really like having that reminder to just keep moving during the day.

ARIES83 -> RE: Workout (3/27/2013 3:23:03 AM)

Breagha,
Just noticed your siggy. I like!

I get the boredom too when riding my bike or
jogging, the only relief for me is a good playlist.

I got no ideas on the toning though.

ARIES83 -> RE: Workout (3/27/2013 3:26:53 AM)

LilSquaw,

I know someone who swares by krill oil to improve
joints.

zubedangina -> RE: Workout (3/27/2013 3:34:54 AM)

I have a fitbit AthenaSurrenders! I love it and wear it all the time. It's nice to have instant feedback and it syncs up really well with the website I'm on to do workouts and food tracking etc.

I haven't been that successful at working out on my own, I was doing really well when I had my YMCA membership, but now it is the last semester of school and that's freaking me out so I dropped the gym membership. Thankfully my husband has agreed to wake up early in the morning with me and we work out together at home. I'm sticking to it more because he's being my buddy, but I think it's harder to get up at 4 a.m. to work out then the actual work out is. We've been doing some fitness dvds in the morning, and I've been walking my dog longer now that we won't freeze to death.

And it's supposed to deliver all the benefits of fish oil, in smaller amounts, and be less likely to oxidize before you use it.

MissBlueangel -> RE: Workout (3/27/2013 3:55:21 AM)

Iv just ordered some Krill oil after reading some reviews regarding joint pain and stiffness
Hope its as good as they say

You can always do standing ab workouts.

Here's a sample http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zI5EoiYi1c

Technically, you still use yours arms. Just not in the same manner as you would in a plank. It's not putting any force on those muscles.

TheLilSquaw -> RE: Workout (3/27/2013 5:53:11 AM)

lovethyself- A couple of standing ab exercises :

Standing knee crunch - Stand in a split-stance position with your hands clasped together above your head. Contract your core and with control, drive the back knee up and bring the hands down so that they meet at waist level.

Standing sumo crunch - Stand in a split-stance position with your hands clasped together above your head. Contract your core and with control, drive the back knee up and bring the hands down so that they meet at waist level

Aries - VitaCost has a wonderful joint supplement that I am ordering in a couple of days along with a few other things.

zubedangina- I used to HATE getting up at 5 am to go to the gym at 5:30 especially when they were just opening the doors so they were at times running late. Horrible!

Imp- I can't eat out either typically w/o my stomach doing a number on me.

Still doing your zombie workout?

absolutchocolat -> RE: Workout (3/27/2013 7:52:57 AM)

FR

Joining Curves tomorrow, hopefully. I have never really worked out in a structured setting -- y'know, with a trainer and stuff -- so this should be interesting. My goal is to stick with it for at least a month. Fingers crossed!

TheLilSquaw -> RE: Workout (3/27/2013 8:13:51 AM)

chocolate morsel - I will cross my toes for you!

chatterbox24 -> RE: Workout (3/27/2013 8:49:05 AM)

I am looking at my weight set. I should lift. I should put on the music and dance too. Can't complain about untoned areas if you just look!!! Ok I have decided I will use it today, as I commited myself too, January 1st! Start start start, slack, slack , keep going....................move it move it move it. At least I am not using it as a coat rack yet.

Love the results, hate the work. Is there a happy meduim? LOL.

lovethyself -> RE: Workout (3/27/2013 11:26:14 AM)

FR~

Thanks for the awesome suggestions ladies. I will definetly be trying some of them out today after work. My elbow doesn't hurt as much anymore, but it's still clicking a bit, so I'm going to lay off it for a while longer.

Absolutchocolat and chatterbox, welcome to the fun. Hope you stick with it, and enjoy it. Tunes really help me once I start. With the right tunes, I just zone out and next thing I know, it's been an hour.

TheLilSquaw -> RE: Workout (3/27/2013 2:03:02 PM)

chatter - You can complain all you want complaining wont change anything.[:-]
You should join us here more often and let us support you and encourage you to do it. This thread is GREAT for that IMO.

Btw... IMO there is a happy medium that is short intense work outs rather than long hours at the gym.

Thanks for liking the siggy!!

i actually just pulled out and OLD work out from MTV's the Grind (with Eric Nies ) and started using that for toning. Gotta say... i'm loving it even if it is from 1995

Yes, I varied my routine a bit. I've just been exhausted the last two weeks. I'm not sure what is going on, but I dropped another two pounds. So that makes a total of 40lbs total. It's taken a really long time to drop that weight. Almost a freaking year. I do have more muscle tone though and I can tell inch wise. Tonight I am resisting the urge to go get a nice big fat juicy burger and ice cream. I'm hormonal and stressed and the two together are a bad combination.

absolutchocolat -> RE: Workout (3/27/2013 4:51:08 PM)

Thanks Sweet Feet :)

TheLilSquaw -> RE: Workout (3/27/2013 5:03:21 PM)

Imp - Yeah loosing my last 20 lbs is going slowly but I see my body toning and I am loosing inches so I can't / wont complain.

I found a way to get my chocolate fix with a healthy chocolate smoothie that tastes like a chocolate milk shake!

I even made a wonderful chocolate tofu pudding the other day.

Chocolate Morsel - Let us know how it goes! My toes are magical. hehehe
