Zombie run? That sounds interesting, I wonder if
it works with bike riding...

*just looked it up, it looks Really interesting!
but it says it works at any speed and even on a
treadmill... Not sure how that works, how do you
out run them then... [:D]*

AthenaSurrenders -> RE: Workout (2/14/2013 3:24:47 AM)

I've never tried it on a treadmill but the gist is:

You set up your mission (chose between an hour or half-hour run) and set off. If you are running outside you enable GPS and it will give you alerts as to how far you have run and in what time. If GPS is enabled you can opt to switch on zombie chases, it gives you an alert that says 'warning, zombies at 20 meters' and a sort of radar-type beep that gets faster as they catch up with you, and you have to speed up to evade them. You can opt to do it without chases turned on which I guess is what you would have to do on a treadmill.

The main story is told through radio broadcasts and voice acting (with your music playing in between updates) and as you run you also automatically pick up supplies like food, batteries etc. The updates are timed so even if you decide to walk it instead of running it doesn't affect the story - just so long as you run when you get chased. When the zombies catch you it lets you carry on with the story but you do lose the supplies you've collected. Then back at the base you distribute the supplies and level up your hospital or housing or whatever.

Athena,
The zombie app sounds cool!

I think any movement burns calories. I was actually at my lightest weight when I was teaching pre-k and IMO it had a lot to do with how active I was during the day between the "play" and lifting the kids.

absolutchocolate,

Lol .... practicing backhand on your pet??
Cute description!

*******

Personally, I am realizing why I was told not to pay much attention to the scale but to measurements. I did my monthly weigh in and I went from 155 to 157 pounds then I did my measurements and I have lost inches.

Then I realized how much muscle I have gained.
Duh!

ARIES83 -> RE: Workout (2/14/2013 6:21:34 AM)

I might need to buy one of those armband iPhone
holders, those zombies sound fun.

absolutchocolat -> RE: Workout (2/14/2013 6:29:06 AM)

Go Squaw! I love your new avatar, btw.

Yep, practicing the backhand. I have to get my swings in before he jets back to London!

TheLilSquaw -> RE: Workout (2/14/2013 6:36:53 AM)

Thanks AC. (hope you don't mind me calling you that)
That was a fun shoot. :)

I had this image of a tennis player swinging a paddle the same way they do a racket to get in practice. Lol

I need to spice up my workout. I'm looking for new dvd's. I need something that is going to hurt, but in the end pay off. I wish that we didn't live in Podunk right now so that I could just hire a trainer (if even for once a month) just to kick my ass. This week's workout has been kinda blah, since I hurt my shoulder. Mostly cardio.

absolutchocolat -> RE: Workout (2/15/2013 9:18:21 PM)

I like AC! Makes me sound like a badass. [:D]

Your feet are just adorable! You're giving me a foot fetish over here.

ARIES83 -> RE: Workout (2/15/2013 9:18:49 PM)

It's been about a month of workouts now and no
alcohol this year with one or two minor exceptions
and even though I can't really see much of a
diffrence, I've been starting to get people noticing
a change.
First was last week when I went over for family
dinner and as I was getting into my car to go
home, my mother said "what's that big lump on
your leg?"
I replied, "what lump..."
"On the front there." she said pointing.

To get to the point, she was talking about a muscle
on my shin. [:D]

I knew my legs had been getting a workout from
the increased bike riding so I didn't think to much
of it, but I just had a friends brother commenting
on other noticeable improvements, even though
they don't seem too noticable to me.

But that's two now so I think it's safe to say I'm
starting to get results.

For anyone curious about what I'm doing, I'm trying
to bulk up a bit and my routine has been:

Morning, wake up at sunrise, ride bike a few miles.
Come home, take dog for a few mile walk.
Come home, hit the chuck norris total gym.

Afternoon, same as above if I have time.

Add to that a healthy diet, no alcohol, minimal
soft drinks (diet coke, rarely).

Coke is hard to go without, but since I gave up
coffee years ago coke is my caffeine fix, I try not
to have to much.

And yer... Results are starting to emerge, I've got
about 2 months to go until I start doing security
work, so still plenty of time to get more results.

I'll leave another update if there's anything happens
worth writing about.

lmpishlilhellcat -> RE: Workout (2/16/2013 8:32:58 AM)

I'm out of my workout funk! I did a TRX workout today that is pushing me to work a bit harder! I can do most of what the recruits can do, except chin ups. That's a goal I'm setting for myself. Plus, I found this awesome thigh workout to deal with my stubborn inner thighs. It's messed up my legs are all toned except that area. Here's hoping it works. I want to wear shorts this summer my legs are starting to look really really good!

lmpishlilhellcat -> RE: Workout (2/16/2013 1:18:30 PM)

Can I just say that I am super excited to do this!!!

You can't actually touch anyone. The goal is to take a group of people with you, complete the obstacles, and out smart the zombies. There are several ways to complete the 5K, but you have to do it in a smart way otherwise you could complete a 10K. You get a flag belt (like in flag football) and there are health packs along the way. You can pick up extra flags in case you lose some of yours. If you complete the 5K with at least one of your tags in tact you've beat the zombies, if you don't you "become" a zombie. It's kinda like a muddy buddy with people chasing you and beer at the end.

ARIES83 -> RE: Workout (2/17/2013 10:13:07 AM)

Ooh, soinds very fun!
Health packs! [:D]

*I'll add, while it sounds like fun, I wouldn't be
able to do it, I'm not a marathon type of guy...
I run like I sex! A brief burst of powa followed by
a period of fatigue which requires me to have a
lay down.[;)]*

william72banks -> RE: Workout (2/17/2013 3:13:17 PM)

Workout daily and watch what I eat...at 40 you cant afford to add fat, its way to dam hard to get off and stay in shape..

At 40 here is what I do on a weekly basis..

I run 5k every morning Mon, wed, Fri.

And I keep pushing play on P90x which I am in the middle of my second time doing it, the first time I completed it I was in great shape, but failed to stick with the outlined diet and let my exersise form slip a bit.

This time I really try to watch what I eat and try to keep my workout form tight when liftweights and work out..

So far Im happy...eating right IS THE HARD PART and stay away from cokes/soda pops

TheLilSquaw -> RE: Workout (2/18/2013 5:18:26 AM)

AC
Awww... spanks
That is a huge compliment.
I admit I like when none footies enjoy my feet. Lol

ARIES,
That's a nice routine. :)
I love to bike ride but around here I am nervous to folks in Bmore county drive worse than folks in LA. Lol

Imp,
It's good to hear that you are out of your work out rut.
Chin ups?
Good gravy I haven't done one of those since high school. Lol

Another zombie run!
Yay!

William,

Nice to see new faces and you are right eating right is the HARD part but the part that makes the biggest difference.

On a personal note....
This weekend was rough for me. I found myself battling a bit of depression. I was diagnosed as bi-polar when I was 16 as well as PTSD 4 years ago. I forced myself to do my work outs. I really didn't have an appetite, however; I did force myself to eat like I'm supposed to. And I feel better for it.

My arms are screaming at me this morning. Lol

And Saturday, my son challenged me to do 30 push ups every time we came up the stairs instead of 10. So I've upped that throughout the day.

lmpishlilhellcat -> RE: Workout (2/18/2013 6:49:46 AM)

Lil Squaw,

I'm sorry about your depression. I know it must be hard to move and be active when you feel that way. Do the workouts help at all? When I get into a bit of a funky mood, a workout seems to help me.

I don't know about you and maybe it's just me, but I kind of enjoy when my body hurts after a workout. :) I abused mine this weekend. I can't even sit down right now, it hurts!!! But I get a day off and while I would really love to curl up and read and I still have to get the dogs out for a 2 miler and get some errands done. I already did my Jillian Michaels.

Good luck and feel better!

TheLilSquaw -> RE: Workout (2/18/2013 7:14:24 AM)

Imp,
My work outs do help A LOT.
I've been told by my docs that that isn't unusual. My manic and despressive states last a day or 2 now where at one point the rollercoaster ride was my norm.

When I 1st told my docs I wanted to try "natural" healing instead of the meds they were very hesitant and didn't think it would work. They have since agreed that for ME the herbs, supplements, change in diet, and exercise have worked.

I do like when I work out so hard certain parts of my body are screaming at me after. Lol
It tells me I pushed myself.

Thanks.

TheLilSquaw -> RE: Workout (3/4/2013 6:10:30 AM)

How is everyone's working going???

Mine is going well, although it did kick my ass last week for a couple or days due to working out and shooting videos.

ARIES83 -> RE: Workout (3/4/2013 12:29:51 PM)

I have had a LOT on my plate lately espically the
last week (this is my first day off!) but I'm
extremely happy with how much I've been keeping
up with my working out!

My recovery up until yesterday was overnight but
last nights celebrations for me involved alcohol so
I'm very sore this morning...
alcohol really has a big effect on my recovery times!

I only had a few cans but judging by how my
back/neck/shoulders feel at the moment, I'll be out
of commission for at least another couple of days...

Speaking of my back/neck/shoulders... They are
comming along very well! Very slowly but very
noticeable now, tha neck is almost disappeared.
Hahaha![:D]

And I managed to still find time to study for all my
tests I just finished for a qualification I've been
tryn to get, So that was a challenge, but very worth
it, the only thing that has been neglected was the
lawn mowing. [;)]
