Ok. Then find it in the fact of two innocent civilian vehicles subjected to the use of deadly force, without warning or target identification.

I hate it when the "Crazy Manifesto" makes a lot of sense...
quote:

"Don’t honor these fallen officers/dirtbags. When your family members die, they just see you as extra overtime at a crime scene and at a perimeter. Why would you value their lives when they clearly don’t value yours or your family members lives? I’ve heard many officers who state they see dead victims as ATV’s, Waverunners, RV’s and new clothes for their kids. Why would you shed a tear for them when they in return crack a smile for your loss because of the impending extra money they will receive in their next paycheck for sitting at your loved ones crime scene of 6 hours because of the overtime they will accrue. They take photos of your loved ones recently deceased bodies with their cellphones and play a game of who has the most graphic dead body of the night with officers from other divisions. This isn’t just the 20 something year old officers, this is the 50 year old officers with significant time on the job as well who participate."

I agree that is, to say the least, inexcusable.

I think this sums up the meta-issue in this discussion: ( It's from MetaFilter )

quote:

The problem isn't discussing his grievances for no reason other than that Dorner is a mass murderer; the problem is dismissing his grievances for this reason. I just don't see how that kind of reasoning operates. Someone being prepared to kill for an ideal speaks to the vehemence of their belief and their personal threshhold for violence; it doesn't say anything one way or the other about the correctness of the belief.

However, there is overwhelming evidence that Dorner's assertions are largely correct. If you dismiss them because of their source, you disrespect every victim of the LAPD's monstrous corruption. Would you have dismissed the abolition of slavery, merely because John Brown, a famous abolitionist, murdered slave owners?

Local authorities are putting together a million dollar reward on him.

I think he has probably committed suicide by now.
I would be scared to look for him, who would want to risk dealing with him alive or the LAPD that is after him?

I heard they had a lawyer.. I doubt a new truck is the end of what they will be getting.. nor should it be, imo..

Did ya'll hear that Charlie Sheen did a blurb on tv telling Donner to call him.. yeah, that outta yield results..
http://www.ibtimes.com/charlie-sheen-pleads-ex-cop-christopher-dorner-turn-himself-video-1074238

I saw a few minutes of the news yesterday.. clip of big burly dudes with even bigger guns (they didnt look like cops to me) knocking on peoples doors at Big Bear searching every cabin.. that woulda had me freaking out.. In the past in Canada I had no problem feeling safe in telling the self-professed cops "no I wont open my door" (since I had no idea if they were actually cops).. but doing that at Big Bear mighta got me shot multiple times for refusing to open the door..

Could be true, but many of us are closer to the edge than we realize.
I have seen a few on these boards, that appear to have gone over the edge.
All many people need is one good push, maybe he got his push.

Maybe, just maybe what he witnessed LAPD "doing", than the fact he "reported" it and than was terminated, set him over the edge?
Who knows?

I'm inclined to disagree, about it being a sudden snap, Mari. I think it is significant that he was fired from LAPD in 2009 (2008? There are conflicting reports), but only launched his spree after he had been separated from the Naval Reserve.

There are a lot of pieces that just don't add up. The attempted boat theft in San Diego, especially. I doubt we'll ever get a full story. We sure as hell aren't getting all that is known so far.

There is a sneaky catch on that million dollar reward, too. It's for information leading to his arrest and conviction, but he's going to get gunned down, the moment they find him.

If he is already dead, by his own hand and conscience, or just by the weather up in Big Bear, then I'm hoping they don't find his body for a while, just so the public display of LAPD procedure stays spotlit.

How long before the extremists twist the police chiefs opening of an investigation into why/how the killer was fired into codling a criminal?

One thing is for sure, an EX LAPD police officer went berserk, and the LAPD has not had a good reputation for a long time.

Maybe they slipped up and hired someone "unbalanced" to begin with, and than he just snapped.

Interesting Rich, I was unaware of him leaving the Naval Reserve, there is a lot we don't know, and probably will never know.

Maybe. I think they like candidates who want to belong, and get their sense of purpose and meaning in life from the badge.

A friend's son is going through the selection process, to join the Sheriff's Department here, and it's a long, convoluted thing.

Books will be written about this guy, I'm sure.

One or two things that get me about this is he states the LAPD was the cause of all his problems and vows vengeance he has killed 3 people, one with no conncection with the LAPD, (he was the boyfriend), The daughter of a former LAPD Officer, who retired became a lawyer and defended Dorner at his hearing, and a Riverside Police Officer, and wounded a second Riverside Police Officer, last know where about is Big Bear, he really has missed his target group.

It doesn't make much sense, with the pieces that are out so far. Killing the daughter of his lawyer is about as nasty an act of revenge as you find. Then the crazy declaration of war manifesto, followed by an attempt to steal a boat, then his truck found burned out in the mountains, with a broken axle and camping equipment. He says in the manifesto that he won't target other departments, but the cops shot in their car were Riverside PD. Was he foolish enough to carry the .50 he claimed to have out of the truck, at the expense of more suitable weapons, and cold gear?

If he is still alive, we'll know when he kills someone else, and there will be a fresh trail to track him, and cameras to see how Socal LE plays it. If he's dead already, then let the coyotes and crows get their fill, before he's found, and the whole thing goes away.

I just don't want to see it spun in a way that allows amoral shitheads to use this guy as a distraction from the very real issues within the police culture.

That's it in a nutshell. He's pissed off because his Training Sergeant beat up a kid, and he reported her for beating up the kid. So they got the kid to tell the Sergeant's story ( He fell into a bush... ) and fired Dorner for filing false reports.

LAPD. Where people on the video of Rodney King getting beaten have been promoted to Captain...

You would be pissed off too.
