Do very many people who say Hi in the intro bit here go on to be regular forumites.
I dont see many whose nic I recognise.
And if not...why do you think that is

xLaChienne -> RE: Folk that say Hi on this side (2/9/2013 10:27:56 AM)

IMO, those who say hi in the introductions are really just advertising their profile and trying to garner attention from the other side of CM.

AthenaSurrenders -> RE: Folk that say Hi on this side (2/9/2013 10:30:17 AM)

I don't know the ratio, but I would guess it's because a lot of people just come in here to 'advertise' themselves but don't really have an interest in taking part in the discussion. They post an intro just to draw some attention to their profile. Collarme is a personals site so it makes sense that they would come here expecting it to work the same way.

Then I'm sure there are some who join and are all enthusiastic but lose interest, or get into interesting conversations with people on the profile side so don't see the need to come in here. Or read some threads and think we are all boring/mean/not play-focused/not open to fantasy discussion and leave again.

I just kind of jumped right in and skipped the introduction section altogether.

MissBlueangel -> RE: Folk that say Hi on this side (2/9/2013 10:32:20 AM)

See ...Im more on the other side...but really enjoy reading over here.
However I dont think saying Hi here helps you "sell" your profile over there at all.
Never the twain shall meet ....and all that.
Maybe your right tho

Subano -> RE: Folk that say Hi on this side (2/9/2013 10:32:21 AM)

The intro is merely another forum - but - I simply pick this general forum to hang out in - instead of the others.

Akrotiri -> RE: Folk that say Hi on this side (2/9/2013 10:34:08 AM)

If you say Hi in the intros, the forum regulars, such as DS, who actually do visit your profiles, will give you a word of sage advice.
But that's all it garners you ... so if you're into discourse ... you'll come here.
If you're into just the profiles ... you won't.

OsideGirl -> RE: Folk that say Hi on this side (2/9/2013 10:36:47 AM)

A few have gone on to be regular posters, but most just treat it as a personal ad.

I agree with you, but I think most people post their intros pretty early on and don't know that yet.

ETA - Oh, NM. Misunderstood.

TieMeInKnottss -> RE: Folk that say Hi on this side (2/9/2013 3:11:29 PM)

I never went through the intros thing..li kind of just jumped in and started giving my two cents (LOL). I think some people get confused and think the two sides are more "connected". I have noticed that most of the people on the other side have never posted in a forum & it seems most of the forum posters have profiles only so other board posters know them...

OsideGirl -> RE: Folk that say Hi on this side (2/9/2013 4:03:45 PM)

Yeah, the tone is completely different on both sides.

EsotericLady -> RE: Folk that say Hi on this side (2/9/2013 4:30:14 PM)

Just curious, since I've been on "both sides" as it were... (although I see it as two parts to the whole and not sides, however.)

I've heard many an occasion where people from one "side" put down those on the other "side" and vice versa...and I am just curious as to why that is?

littlewonder -> RE: Folk that say Hi on this side (2/9/2013 4:35:07 PM)

No. Most can't be bothered with the forums because the only reason they are here is to find someone to fuck for the night. When people email me on the other side I tell them about this side with the forums and almost all of them say the same thing; they don't like to write or they don't have time or it's just not something that interests them....aka....it won't get me laid tonight.

EsotericLady -> RE: Folk that say Hi on this side (2/9/2013 4:44:32 PM)

THAT is what you arrive at that someone means when they don't like to post in a forum?
Wow! What insight you have!

Me too. I didn't even realize there WAS an intro section til after I'd posted my first question. It seemed sort of redundant to introduce myself at that point.......

DesFIP -> RE: Folk that say Hi on this side (2/9/2013 5:49:17 PM)

I don't recognize the op's nic. Does that mean she's only on the other side and not in the forums?

Some people are slow to warm up to the forums. Some feel overwhelmed by it. You ask a simple question and it takes on a life of it's own. And some are only here to meet someone and not to chat. But starting with the intro section is a way to stick your toe in the water safely.

littlewonder -> RE: Folk that say Hi on this side (2/9/2013 6:50:46 PM)

Esoteric, it's easy to figure out. They say "hi" you write back "hi". They write back "so you busy tonight?". You write back "not really. Just hanging out on the forums. If you wanna join us feel free. It's pretty a pretty fun place". Then you look at their profile. That pretty much says it all. And guess what? They either never write back after you say that or they write back with something that I mentioned.

I've been online for many years and long enough to know the games, the innuendos, the play book. I've pretty much seen it all. There are very, very, very few on here or pretty much any personals site online that is looking for anything with commitment or long term. The net has become the haven of porn.

If you're looking for me to somehow pick a fight with you as you seem to be doing with me lately, you won't get it. I don't argue. I just stop responding.

MalcolmNathaniel -> RE: Folk that say Hi on this side (2/9/2013 7:10:51 PM)

Hi!

This post may or may not have any subtext.

tommonymous -> RE: Folk that say Hi on this side (2/9/2013 7:21:24 PM)

I guess I've always thought of it as poor form to not introduce myself in a forum after I set up an account. I also introduce myself to the host/ess at a party, or just go say hello if I already know them.

Maybe I'm just old fashioned.
