TheLilSquaw -> Walking Dead *Spoiler* / Discussion (2/11/2013 9:35:28 AM)

Last night's episode was intense!

I personally love how certain characters are evolving.

Daryl, started out as an outcast of sorts even within the group.
Now he is trusted and loved.
I felt for him last night when he had to choose between staying with the group or leaving with his older brother.

What do you think it would take for him to turn his back on his brother and return to the group?

What do you think about the governors reaction to Rick and them rescuing Daryl?
That smile.
Do you think he has lost it?

At the end when Rick started hallucinating Lorie, that was intense.
I can't fault Tyreese and his group from simply choosing to leave.
After all Rick was supposed to be the leader and he obviously was unhindged.

Would you have stuck around or did what they did and just leave??

theshytype -> RE: Walking Dead *Spoiler* / Discussion (2/11/2013 9:57:39 AM)

Oh, how I love Daryl! I'm assuming his brother is going to do something stupid/horrible (like getting himself killed or hurting innocent people) and cause Daryl to go back to the group.
While they're both pretty anti-social, Daryl at least has a heart.

That would have been a tough choice, but I probably would have done the same.
I LOVED when Rick knocked him out. I shouted "thank you!" to the tv.

I wasn't sure who Rick was imagining, but really hope the 4 that wanted to join will eventually get to. I really like the couple...not so much the shady guy. (I'm horrible with names in RL too).

I'm so glad this show is FINALLY back on!!!!

ETA: Rick is losing it. Does he ever sleep?

TheLilSquaw -> RE: Walking Dead *Spoiler* / Discussion (2/11/2013 10:03:41 AM)

I think Daryl started out as anti-social.
Like an abused animal really.
However, I think he has gotten past that with the group anyway.
Between falling for Carol and lil ass kicker being born.

And yes Rick has LOST it!
He's been hallucinating since Lorie died.

I have a feeling that Daryl's brother will attack the group or more specifically Carol and Daryl will be forced to kill his own brother.

TNDommeK -> RE: Walking Dead *Spoiler* / Discussion (2/11/2013 4:54:06 PM)

I love Daryl and hope something happens to his idiot brother so he goes back. And did you see whatshername's face when Rick told her he was gone? She was heart broken. He better go back to the group!

TheLilSquaw -> RE: Walking Dead *Spoiler* / Discussion (2/11/2013 5:10:10 PM)

Well Carol and Daryl have been going back and forth for year!
They helped one another grow past the abuse.

TheLilSquaw -> RE: Walking Dead *Spoiler* / Discussion (2/19/2013 5:02:38 AM)

Woohoo!!!

Daryl went back to the prison and just in time to save Rick's ass!

The governor is freak'n wacked.
Seariously!
Dropping a truck full of zombies off.

Do you think the group needs to fortify the prison, take the fight to the governor or simply leave the prison and go on the run again?

Lynnxz -> RE: Walking Dead *Spoiler* / Discussion (2/19/2013 5:11:04 AM)

Seriously though.

Alright, thanks to the over exuberance of Hollywood and the networks, Zombies are getting more play time in theaters and TV. It has carried over into various industrial and small shops to the point of being ridicules. On Discovery's "Sons of Guns" the employees of Red Jacket made two different "Zombie Apocalypse" firearms.

A member of the Canadian Government actually brought up the subject in a parliamentary session.

Aside from the occasional drug crazed lunatic eating a man's face, has anyone actually seen one?

Hell as much as I dislike the NRA, they could use this paranoid conspiracy theory to get the Assault Weapon ban dropped, and make it legal to by fully automatic weapons in Sporting Goods Stores.

The only humans that could be called zombies are those people who spend hours in front of the TV watching "Real Housewives of <insert city here>," or any one of the too many "reality" TV shows, or spend their entire life surfing the internet.

Forget zombies already, worry about the true threats to civilization as we know it, Politicians and house cats.

You may not enjoy this series but many myself included do.
I happen to think the comics are better than the series but the series is still good IMO.

That being said, I often say that society already has zombies. The people who are the walking dead and simply go through the motions.

Yeah, like me in the morning if I don't have coffee. I may actually bite someone.

I have watched a few episodes, and I agree it is well done. But, you must remember I am an old geezer type critter who has seen more zombie movies, and remakes of zombie movies, and remakes of the remakes that I have been zombied out.

The truth is that I have never seen a "horror" themed series that can stay original for more than two or three seasons. And I am taking into consideration the original Dark Shadows, Angel, Buffy, and charmed.

However, I will say that "The Walking Dead" seems to be, according to the critics, highly acclaimed and seems to be doing well. It is better than the large number of "reality" tv shows presently occupying the network prime time slots.

It would be different if the premise of the series was trying to find a cure of the cause of people turning into zombies.

Please do not think that I am trying to insult people who watch and enjoy the show, that is not my intention. I would just like to see a change in the horror genre altogether.

Granted, being in my fifties really does ruin most shows on tv today. I can pretty much determine who, what, where and how halfway through the show and then get bored. The basic plot is always the same, and any show that tries something new is panned by the critics and cancelled.

PeonForHer -> RE: Walking Dead *Spoiler* / Discussion (2/19/2013 12:38:54 PM)

FR

I just wish they could all find somewhere with hot water, a bath and a giant supply of soap.

TNDommeK -> RE: Walking Dead *Spoiler* / Discussion (2/19/2013 4:39:33 PM)

I swear Peon, I think the same thing! Every time I see them I'm like " wonder how bad they smell" I would absolutely die if I couldn't brush my teeth or bathe!

I would assume they could find that in the prison if they looked hard enough. Soap on a rope ![:D]

theshytype -> RE: Walking Dead *Spoiler* / Discussion (2/19/2013 6:40:06 PM)

I thought the same thing about the smell and then I'm reminded they live amongst many rotting corpses.

jlf1961 -> RE: Walking Dead *Spoiler* / Discussion (2/19/2013 6:46:58 PM)

Well as I understand the premise of the show, it is post apocalyptic so running water, soap, good whiskey would be hard to come by.

Besides, after spending a few days on maneuvers in the army or survival training, you kind of get used to the smell, and it seems to keep mosquitoes away.

LillyBoPeep -> RE: Walking Dead *Spoiler* / Discussion (2/19/2013 8:42:02 PM)

hooray! another walking dead thread! ^_^

TWD started off a lot like 28 Days Later - guy waking up in the hospital, stumbling around not know what's going on.

So you could say it wasn't particularly unique from the very beginning. Well you could say that from the minute it was about ZOMBIES considering that zombies have been done and done and DONE and done some more.

But that's not so much what matters - what matters is that it's well crafted and the characters (well... some of them) are compelling.
I don't care what anyone says, I was a huge fan of Shane because, to me, he was what I thought most people would be like. He was a real guy dealing with some heinous stuff, and he always had these INCREDIBLY complex choices and decisions, and no matter what he did, everyone hated him for it.
He snapped, while Rick kept being a good guy - but now Rick's in Shane's shoes, and he's snapping, too.

Haven't yet been able to get any copies of the comics; they fly out of stores here as soon as they come in. So I'll probably just check the internet eventually. =p

LOOOVE THIIIS SHOOOOW!

littlewonder -> RE: Walking Dead *Spoiler* / Discussion (2/19/2013 9:00:18 PM)

So I really never liked the show at the beginning and stopped watching it then last season it happened to be on and I ended up watching it again and have really gotten into it now.

I was telling Master about how the show is not really about zombies. The zombies just seem to be the backdrop, giving them something to do while they are all interacting in their lives, the emotions, their interactions.

I'm interested in how Rick has been losing his mind and I am wondering where this will lead to and what will happen to his new child. I mean, it's going to be difficult for them to have this child attracting zombies with the crying or Rick just not caring about her anymore. Will the group then raise her? Will Rick finally overcome his delusions? Will he be overthrown as the leader?

TheLilSquaw -> RE: Walking Dead *Spoiler* / Discussion (2/20/2013 4:34:32 AM)

The group IS raising lil ass kicker.
Rick isn't.
He's lost in his own mind.

I see Daryl or the Korean guy (can't think of his name ATM) will simply step in as leader.

I don't see them going back on the run.
Not with lil ass kicker or the old man.

Lilly ... The comics are AMAZING! I would strongly suggest to anyone who likes the series to get ahold of the comics. They are far more grousom and certain characters are far more sinister.

theshytype -> RE: Walking Dead *Spoiler* / Discussion (2/20/2013 7:22:00 AM)

The zombies are very much just a backdrop. I love that when they're having a serious conversation, you can see one in the far off distance. You know, no big deal. Then they just shoot one and walk away as if a fly on a window.

I think the Korean guy will take over. He kind of already has tried at times.

I have a question though. There was a smaller-figured person that got out of the van that delivered the zombies. It looked like that person ran towards the prison, not the governor. Am I mistaken?

I did see someone out of the fan the dropped off the zombie but I didn't see anyone run into the prison.
