Servantforuse--Well, let's keep a good thought, shall we? And not be overly emotionally invested in it--after all, each of us can always choose not to participate.

Learning requires rote.

I am glad that you took the horse by the reins and got on it. Get the therapist to help out, find an advocate who can work with you. Ask to be re-assessed. I am still waiting for the student loan people to contact me (damn it, I sent in my divorce papers, how much I get per month and the application...this is worse than being under suicide watch for 3 days..)

Well, again, let's try something new. Not asking you to actively encourage, but don't let your emotions force you to read it with a pessimistic heart. Why not just leave it at "I hope she does well?" and then think to yourself the last part. Then, if you were wrong, you can celebrate, and if you were right, well, it won't be so disappointing.

Sort of like ladies at tea, I guess, but to emotionally invest doesn't help her and frustrates you. Know whudda mean? :)

I do not dislike TFB. I do get frustrated though. My average work week at AT&T was 55 to 60 hours per week for 34 years. I understand that she has problems but am very tired of the excuses to better her self.

Notsweet -> RE: If I report that James lives with me, can they count his income against what i can make on SSI? (2/25/2013 8:47:35 PM)

Well, see....that's kind of my point. Let me see if I can explain myself.

I am a political junkie. In the worst conceivable way. I can argue for your side, for my side, or for a side that hasn't even started yet. I keep the radio and the tv on constantly, and I read I don't know how many news websites a day, with six of them being every day reads.

Even so often, I get so frustrated and crazed, and to the point where I can't talk about anything else, and every differing opinon looks like a personal attack--and they're ON TV, LMAO!!

Now, before I get there, I figure it out, and I either turn off the tv and the radio and drop the news websites for a day or two or more, if I need to, and I calm myself down and try to remember that we only get somewhere if we all pull together, all sides. And then I can face politics again.

I'm suggesting that when you have a moment of "not this again," you just pass it by. Deliberately frustrating yourself doesn't help you at all, wastes your time, and doesn't help TFB. Meanwhile, there are those of us who have a moment of "Good for you!" and not only does it not poke us in the eye, but it might just be helpful to TFB.

Does that make sense?

That would be a problem for me. I can't just pass it by. There are to many others on here that will encourage her to keep on the path she is on. I have tried to stay away from her threads and just can't. Elvis died because he had to many yes men telling him he was ok..

littlewonder -> RE: If I report that James lives with me, can they count his income against what i can make on SSI? (2/25/2013 9:18:03 PM)

I don't see anyone here saying she is doing ok. Just the opposite actually. I don't see anyone just agreeing with her. Again, just the opposite. You also are seeing her as a normal human being with no learning or mental disabilities when in reality she is not a normal human being. While I understand your frustration, you have to keep in mind that she is like a child. Do you have children? If so then you should understand the mind of one then. You can tell them things time and time and time again and you will get the same answers. They will tell you they won't do something again but the very next day and it's back to the same thing. You can tell a child to remember something or try to teach them something but if their brain is not developing correctly and if you don't get them the correct help, their development will stop at that point. That is TFTB. I think you are losing sight of that.

Notsweet -> RE: If I report that James lives with me, can they count his income against what i can make on SSI? (2/25/2013 9:59:30 PM)

You know, once again we're talking about TFB like she isn't here--I'm sorry about that, T!

But in any case, problems or not, TFB didn't get a whole lot of direction at some point. When you're helping someone find a way, you have to repeat it, and eventually, they do it on their own. Tough here, because none of us is there to model it.

And not being discouraging is a whole lot better for you too. Just saying.

I am so fucking exstatic, I could bust with joy and relief! I called care one and told them the plan they had me on was busting my chops and leaving me un able to buy food or do anything, and they anged my plan from repayment, at 300 to 145, and instead of 7 years this prog will take 2 years! Thank you so much to those who made it occure to me to talk to care one! It had not honestly occured to me before!

OK...call me confused and maybe having a major brain fart, but how does this make sense? How do they cut your payments in half and then tell you that instead of taking 7 years to pay off the loans you'll now be done in 2? Is my brain just not functioning at 2:30 in the morning?

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: If I report that James lives with me, can they count his income against what i can make on SSI? (2/25/2013 11:44:31 PM)

Aileen its a settlement plan, not a repayment plan. They save up what I give them and they negotiate what the company will take. They start with the really small cards then the middle then the largest, and try to get the companies to yake the smallest settlement possible, where repayment u pay everylast penny, interest n all. It will with only being ablee to.pay min payments take 7 years to repay vs settle.

Hopefully after deadbeating out of your debt you will have learned how to use credit responsibly.

After all the settlements she won't have much, if any, credit to use anymore. Which might not be a bad thing for them, all things considered.

And I wont choose to have unsecured loans, I know myself and I know the temptations. It just wouldnt be good.

KatyLied -> RE: If I report that James lives with me, can they count his income against what i can make on SSI? (2/26/2013 10:57:27 AM)

Temptations? Or perhaps lack of impulse control?

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: If I report that James lives with me, can they count his income against what i can make on SSI? (2/26/2013 11:30:28 AM)

Both.

While you are on the upswing, see if you can also get help for Callie May.
Food stamps for pets.

and also when you buy food with this extra money, do NOT use it to buy fast food or junk food. Buy healthy stuff that you can make easily enough. Don't waste it on stuff you know you should not be eating.
