Uncomfortable humor is often the best; guys like McFarlane, and Chris Rock are masters of it.

The only one who looked annoyed was Jeremy Pivin, and doesn't he have some kind of asshole disorder anyway?

Yeah, he's a dick from what I hear.

There are plenty of things to get offended over, like republicans starving kids in Kyrzakhstan, for crying out loud....

*the above is a tease aimed at notsweet, & not to be taken seriously*

I understand that on the Sunday talking heads, your new guy made up a brand new country. Guess he figures anything that ends in "stan."

<grin> backatcha.

Even though he was going to be on (I love Seth McFarlane) I still couldn't bring myself to watch that self serving crap. And the stuff above--THAT'S what people are whining about?

With the shit that they make and sell for 12 bucks a ticket? Srsly???

And I believe that's EXACTLY why he did what he did. He LOVES making the Hollywood elite uncomfortable. Here's a prime example:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygGy7xAGc0c

OMG that was so freakin funny!!!! I about passed out when they said the part about the Sopranos....I've gotta keep that one...lol

I never understood why the powers that be ask these guys to host then get all up in arms at the jokes, did they not see there work before? I mean who's stupid in this scenario?

They will do like they did before and get some old safe person to host next year, then when the ratings plummet they'll try someone else from this century and the whole thing will start all over again....LOL

Mcfarlane says "no way" when asked if he'd host again.

you obviously haven't seen the last two things he's done over here, Life's too short and Derek were two of the most cringeworthy and embarrassing bits of telly that have ever been commissioned.

Gervais is dead, just a heads up, so that you can be da man in ur hood, I guess that maks sense to you

I think that most people want to be good people. They want to live their lives without harming or being harmed. I think that India is free today in part because Ghandi through non-violent means brought to light how this basic desire to be a good human being conflicted with the reality of British rule.

The problem is sometimes people hearts act faster than the accompanying minds, and often the brain never catches up. Outrage can be a wonderful tool for social change, but when laced with traces of stupidity it's just wasted energy. Like an apple pie with just a dash of feces.

The Oscars are a prime example of the stupidity-outrage machine. Seth McFarlane is being called all kinds of names and the target of all sorts of vitriol because of his oscar jokes. They're calling him sexist. I can understand why the following would be seen as sexist:

“Zero Dark Thirty was about every woman’s innate ability to never ever let anything go.”

I think it was a playful jab if anything, and men and women comics take playful jabs at the other sex all the time. But I can at least see WHY it could be called sexist. But when Seth McFarlane said the following about child actress Quvenzhané Wallis:

“To give you an idea how young she is, it’ll be sixteen years before she’s too old for Clooney,” People are ranting and raving in comments about how he joked about pedophilia and how to joke about a 9 year old having sex with George Clooney is inappropriate. Those people are stupid, and even worse at math than I am.

It was the Oscars....no one was running for office.

Thus endeth the lesson.

My problem, if you can call it a problem, is that I have several earworms--those songs you can't get out of your head, and annoy everyone by singing them (badly, in my case). If you say "Oasis," I will hum "Wonderwall" for days. Earlier today, someone said they were in a rush, and all I could hear was "Fly By Night." It's fun being in my head, LOL...at least the music is pretty good.
