HarryVanWinkle -> I'm right and everybody else is wrong. (2/26/2013 11:47:38 AM)

Does anybody on a political or religious forum ever consider that he just might NOT know everything, that just maybe he could be wrong? I rarely participate in this forum because mostly all I ever see here is people screaming at one another, throwing up any and all statistics and "facts" that support their beliefs while discounting any contrary evidence.

Don't any of you self righteous screamers ever get tired of your own arrogant certitude?

Of course not: that's most of the fun.

jlf1961 -> RE: I'm right and everybody else is wrong. (2/26/2013 11:53:30 AM)

I have considered it, then I let the voices in my head debate it for a while and come to a conclusion...

Actually when someone posts evidence with a link that I can actually respect, I do admit I was wrong about something. The problem comes from the fact that the conservatives wont believe a source that is not from Fox news, and the liberals will not accept a source from Fox news, and both sides doubt the other news outlets.

Some times I think people would doubt the source if God Himself announced the truth from the heavens.

You're forgetting the Mail: apparently that's a reputable source if you live on the other side of the Atlantic to the one that it's published on.
(The corollary to that, of course, is that the BBC can't ever be a reliable news source because it's publicly funded and so in thrall to the Conspiracy headed by her maj and the puppet government she allows to be elected as a distraction...)

Her maj is not the one in control of the British government, she is actually a minion of the house cats from another planet who are controlled by Obama.

And I for one do not find the mail a reputable source...

cracked.com however.....

I certainly would since I believe in neither gods nor heavens. But, I am, at least, willing to concede the possibility that they might exist, unlikely though it seems to me.

Moonhead -> RE: I'm right and everybody else is wrong. (2/26/2013 12:18:41 PM)

To be fair, if He were to announce himself like that, the question of faith would suddenly become a lot less pressing.
It'd be interesting to see Richard Dawkins' reaction, wouldn't it?

You seemed to have forgotten the advances in technology that could easily fake an appearance of the almighty.

He would have to pull off some miracle that cannot be discounted, like maybe Charlie Sheen and Lindsey Lohan stop using drugs, alcohol and breaking the law followed by the both of them joining religious orders and taking vows of silence.

Possibly fake it, but easily? You'd need quite a bit of equipment to rig that up, and some of it would be tricky to hide.

Umm, those advances in technology are one of the reasons I would doubt it. As to reforming a couple of show business morons, that wouldn't impress me, as I don't care about any of them. Now, making politicians start actually saying something when they speak, THAT would impress me.

For the almighty to affect the behavior of politicians two things are necessary, the politicians would have to have a soul, and secondly they would have to give up their belief that they are God.

I am so with you on this. It really bugs the shit out of me the way people bicker about all this stuff. I mean, I know I'm right, but so many people still just go on and on and on being wrong. Sheesh!

You do have a valid point there.

I define a politician as a person with too few morals and ethics to stay a lawyer.

Moonhead -> RE: I'm right and everybody else is wrong. (2/26/2013 12:53:37 PM)

That's a bit harsh on lawyers, isn't it?
