2nd segment.

jlf1961 -> RE: Battleground Texas....Turning Texas Blue...... (2/27/2013 9:46:29 AM)

Due to the climate, Texas has two colors, green (for about 4 to6 weeks) and brown the rest of the year.

Level -> RE: Battleground Texas....Turning Texas Blue...... (2/27/2013 10:58:43 AM)

That's your side of the state, Jeff lol.

O, the change is happening, just not fast enough.

TricklessMagic -> RE: Battleground Texas....Turning Texas Blue...... (2/27/2013 11:28:42 AM)

Of course it is starting to turn blue, you have people fleeing the socialist paradises of California for Texas. They bring their failed politics and policies with them that rendered their state undesirable and try them again. It's happening all over the country. The days of self-reliant successful people are going the way of the Dodo thanks to the welfare state because poor people tend to vote democrat. The Republicans need to get on the hand-out wagon "yes you've done nothing with your life to justify your existence but lets give you a ton of money for being worthless unproductive trash." The Republicans need to accept that criminals are voters and bring in the illegal aliens to legal citizenship.

We'll be going the way of France, Italy, and Greece in not too long. I just hope society collapses soon and after a great die off, it can be rebuilt right.

I'm going to disagree with that statement.

Look at states by income and compare it with how each state voted.
You will see that the poorer states especially in the south are solid red.

A social services agency rents space from me in my building here. I have yet to see a car pull into the parking lot with an Obama sticker on it. They overwhelmingly vote Republican as they suck on the taxpayer's teat.

You want to see Obama stickers on cars visiting the social services office? Come to Detroit for a weekend. I can show you plenty.

So tell us about all that time you spend at and around the welfare offices.......[8|]

Who knew you were just another hateful con spewing negative stereo-types?.....[&o]

Ya know buddy ...we`ve heard the fux-news-gop-bull-shit talking points before......several times.

To hear them regurgitated again word for word, is boring.

Just say`n.

Well, if you want to look at number of poor by state what you find is as follows (from the US Census):

	       Total	Total Poor    Perc Poor
Red States      28	   578973     16.07%
Blue States     23	   494813     19.57%

For more information (not validated by me this time) at the individual level something like 70% of welfare recipients vote democratic. Among non-welfare recipients it's 50/50.

There is much to be interpreted from these numbers and depending on which glasses you look with you see one answer or the other.

To you anyone on the right is bad, why would I take anything you say seriously? You do know what the definition of a bigot is, right?

Owner59 -> RE: Battleground Texas....Turning Texas Blue...... (2/27/2013 1:10:01 PM)

Blue states also happen to be where most of the people live and where most of the economic activity is and where the largest consumer economies are.

Blue states also kick in more than they receive in federal dollars,making red-states a kind of welfare recipient.

Texas is one of the big exceptions to that,with one of the biggest economies in the union.If they didn`t have scads of oil and natural gas....they`d have Miss. status,economically.

The point of the effort thought is to get the folks who can vote to vote,appeal to younger Americans,women,Latinos,Blacks etc and out vote the angry old white guys.

It won`t be a hard sell and if the cons keep up the stupidity/ugliness, with their insults and put-downs and negative stereotyping......they`ll just dry up and blow away in the warm Texas breeze.

States by per capita income. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_by_income#States_ranked_by_per_capita_income

Of the bottom 10, 9 are red

Of the top 10, 7 are blue

Are you still claiming that the poor vote overwhelmingly democrat?

Christie is a centrist and well qualified which is why the RNC will make damn sure he has no chance.

Owner59 -> RE: Battleground Texas....Turning Texas Blue...... (2/27/2013 2:07:06 PM)

He used to be their #1 draw and flew him all over the country during the election cycle.

He messaging success was due in large part to youtube and a team who edited his speeches and posted the "attack/degrade the democrat" clips.

It was the popularity of those "gems" among theviewing public that made him popular nationally.Sanity/LizDelux was gushing over him constantly.

Today,he`s hated amongst those same folks that made him so popular nationally.

NJ isn`t anything like most red-states.He won`t have any problems with republicans here.

He will definitely NOT be the same bully-boy when he runs for re-election if he wants to win again in NJ.He most likely won`t have a lame-loser to run against either,like he did 1st time around.

GotSteel -> RE: Battleground Texas....Turning Texas Blue...... (2/27/2013 2:12:19 PM)

Considering how bat shit crazy the Texas GOP has gotton I'm not surprised there are Texans looking for an alternative.

If that is the case, then you must not think he is really a con or you don't have a problem voting for someone you see as an ignorant racist. Your opinion of "cons" is well documented on these forums.

Not sure what the hell you meant by the last statement. Perhaps all your hate is warping your ability to make sense.

*Sigh* these conversations tend to make more sense when people don't tell the other person what their position is.

Did I claim anything? No. I summed up a table in a census document that described poverty levels by state. If you don't like the answer you need to complain to either Microsoft of the US government.

The additional information was also not mine but the link is present and I did find the relevant NPR poll mentioned. How depressing that attempts to bring in some sort of factual basis for this conversation are handled that way. Have another sip of blue koolaid. It's good for you (said the politician).

GotSteel said: *Sigh* these conversations tend to make more sense when people don't tell the other person what their position is.
Yup. That's because you cannot debate ideology. By it's very nature it is taken as an article of faith. You can debate issues but not ideology. Online in general it's hard to get anywhere with this stuff because of the same old anonymity problems... people become asshats when they are anonymous.

On these issues people become asshats even when they aren't. Doesn't mean you aren't getting anywhere, they still have to look themselves in the mirror at the end of the day.
